I don't think people realize how long it can take reds to color up. ESPECIALLY a cambo based red. It was months before mine turned red...

Nutty says she thinks Suchin is in critical condition. She even quit eating. But I would love to have one these little girls. they are so cute. Yes. Most of the girls can be breeders. I have to sellect few for myself in breeding process. Then others will give out to few of you. ^_^

Red is probably the hardest color to get right - there are so many problems that you can run into: iridescence, dark scales - and to produce a really pure solid red is very difficult. A solid blue is easier to attain - you produce a solid red betta and it's an accomplishment.

Red is absolutely classic in bettas. We Americans are so caught up in the 'new' and trendy - someone advertises the latest black metallic gold mustard purple and we all want it! :OO ...not even realizing that it's probably a cull in the Asian countries.

I just don't like the color red... it's just a personal preference... as far as harder to breed, I admire those that can do it... I just don't care for the color.
That being said, one of my girlie VT "rescues" from wally world is red..

^Ditto. It's not that I don't like red, it's just not my favorite color for a betta. One of my favorite bettas is red VT from Petsmart. I personally prefer blue, but if everyone loved only blue bettas there would be no variety. ^_^

Asian country love red. It bring wealthy and luck to you. It also symbolized energy and power. When Chinese New Year come, you can see everywhere is red. Therefore, the majority is that cultural influence the color. Black in my culture is dead. As orchard color in bettas, those are not the popular color. I remembered when I was a child, when a solid red veiltail came to town, people just pick them up like pet than other colors. ;)
