Title: Malaysian Trumpet Snails
AiWen - May 28, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
If you have a tank with substrate in it, do you notice air bubbles coming out of the substrate when you do water changes with your gravel vacuum? If so, then MTS(Malaysian Trumpet Snails) are for you! :lolo: These little guys help stir up the substrate(they live in it), eat leftovers from feedings and sometimes algae, AND best of all...... they DON'T EAT or BOTHER your plants!
They aren't just useful, they are pretty too! These unicorn horn, conch, trumpet shape snails add a twist to the community tank or your betta tank! Get yours today!
*Advisetisement tone off*
 Anyway, I'm selling these guys in groups of 10s for $1. So, 10 MTS for $1, 50 MTS for $5, 100 MTS for $10... you get my point.
Shipping is $10 via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.

Ya, I used to have some long ago. They are great. I don't recommend them for tanks with undergravel filters. When their shells are little they get below the grates and get stuck there when their shells are too big. I was having problems with my ug filter not working very well. I finally got to the point of tearing the tank down to move and discovered gazillions of empty shells from mts that had died under there. Haven't had an ug filter since (for other reasons also). I miss having those guys. Aiwen, I'll pm you. I gotta get some!
Another thing about these guys is if you have problems with sulfur forming in your substrate (you'll notice pockets of BLACK when you siphon) these snails eliminate that from happening. Sulfur is also not good for your fish.

I have them in all my sand substrate tanks... when I change my bettas to sand in the next few weeks, I'll be adding some.

Hmm.. I would want soem for some of my cichlid tanks, but my cichlids learned ot eat my other ones. They would ripthem form the substrate flip them upside down and suck them out... hmm... maybe I should get osme for ey smaller tanks... I'll have ot check my allowances, and where my parents would want them shipped too....

Don't get rid of all of them, I'll need some later!!
I'm gonna have to re-work my tank. It is so overgrown I can't find my fish!! I need to rip everything out, remove the undergravel filter and start again with fewer plants. Then it would be safe to add the snails. I have some mid-sized swords that have runners with plants as big as the "Mother" plant. I'm gonna thin things out and start a planted 10 gallon shrimp tank. :D

Sure, I'll take some! I just need to get rid of my undergravel filter before I get any MTS because they burrow and will get caught under the filter.

I can't get any, my parents say the fish will jsut eat them again :(. Oh well...
AiWen - June 10, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
MTS actually have very hard shells AND a trapdoor so most fish can't and won't eat them... as well as the fact that they live in the gravel/sand and whatever substrate you have, they aren't easily accessible.
But, anyway, I've got plenty. Who wants? :welcome

What do you want for some?
I could take 100 of them this Friday, but I dunno where you are shipping from?
bettaqueen - June 11, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
I thought I heard somewhere that they get sucked in the filter sometimes
