I'm not a newbie to bettas but I'm a newbie to the fancy types, and I plan on importing a pair from Thailand, so what's everyone think of this site www.livetropicalexport.com

IMO some of those specimens are beautiful but I wouldn't know what's wanted in bettas and what isn't :S

One of the things about experimenting with breeding bettas is you just go for what appeals to you. Now, as far as ibc standards go, I'm not qualified to answer. It wouldn't be a bad idea to ask the seller about this betta's back ground. That might help answer some genetic pros and cons, depending on what you're going for. Were you thinking about showing bettas?

Nutty: I'm glad you think so! I've always loved platinums but that red band really gives it a little something extra I reckon ;)
From what the seller tells me, the bettas are all carefully bred to get the same/better colours every spawn.
No plans to show bettas anytime soon, I don't think there's any betta clubs in Aus. anyway, as far as I'm concerned.
