I had a betta bit a small hole in the center of tail and it eventually ripped in half, silly fish do crazy things sometimes.
Try looking for a solid color divider. My lfs has tank dividers in solid blue and clear.

if i get a solid colour would it still have the holes in it to let the water pass to all the sides? new at the divider thing only have seen the white ones with holes....and i kinda need the ones with holes cuz i only have one filter.

Hey, isis! I don't think the rip is from flaring. I'm sure he was just getting his underwear, I mean fins in a bundle. Eventually it will heal. If you just keep them in the divided tank with the mesh divider they will eventually get bored of each other and not even flare at each other any more. The whole flaring thing is to stake out their territory. As long as each of them stays in their own territory they will eventually will realize there's no threat.
I would, however, be concerned about how securely the divider is held in place. If one of the sides slips over allowing one of the males to get in with the other one of those males is going to get seriously harassed, or worse, depending on how aggressive the dominant male is.
Do you have younger siblings that may investigate a little to close? I have a dog that prefers the flavor of fish water to dog bowl water. It always seems to be the divided tank he goes to drink from. Go figure! If the divider got knocked to the side I'm not to worried. I have a male copper hm (the one in my avatar) in one side and a female copper hm in the other. Eventually they are going to be spawned.
If you do do the solid, just be sure to add the fresh water at water changes to the non-filter side. It will make it's way to the other side to equalize the water level.

the divider cant really slip out of placve it very well held in, and i dont have anyother siblings than my self. i took isis out if the divided tank cuz his fins would never heal, he was in theer foralmost 6 months and he never got acustom to velvet being on the other side.

I guess when I needed to divide a tank w/males they must have just been laid back putzes.

I surround my boys with girls, not other boys.... and then I line the divider with plants... the taller the better.
He did rip his fin a few weeks ago, but it healed up in a few days.
