Title: This Is Killer!
Description: ...the baracuda who thinks he's a betta

justhal - May 19, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
When I got my new shipment in the week before last, it included the red gaint HMPKs from Surat Bhutipanya, AKA Ram91.

As I was removing one of the bags from the box, this fish was slamming away - he wanted out REAL BAD!

This guy has attitude. Within seconds of being released into his aquarium, he was flaring at his neighbor. Last week, when I did a water change on his tank, he BIT ME! &*@^%#$!%@ ...it didn't hurt, but it sure surprised me.

He's earned the nickname of "Killer."

What a vigorous fish! At around 4 months old, he's about 3" from tip to tip and still has some growing to do...

I LOVE this guy!

my oscar doesnt even bite me so if a betta bit me... :spank2 literally

Yeah, thanks - he is cool. BUT I'm afraid what he might do to the female if I tried to breed them.

The other male isn't as aggressive, so he might be the better choice...

...but I really do like this guy. He's got ATTITUDE!!!

Gorgeous fish, but I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley. ^_^

Thanks Nate! Just remember that when you're holding a flashlight on one of his 'kids' at an IBC show...

My Malawi cichlids and my angelfish bite me all the time...
Plato, my betta... only bit me once... I think he though I was food.

Nice Fish!! Like you, I like a fish with attitude!! You'll have to put the female's container next to him and see how agressive he acts towards her. I've had fish that went crazy when they saw another male, but acted "flirty" with the female and not at all agressive.

It's too nice a fish not to try to spawn. You may have to get a female that has a similar "attitude" that can hold her own, to pair up with him.

I have a red VT female that would fight him off and likely win. She is mean, I had to remove her from my betta female tank as she pounded them all into submission and the others would not come out to eat.

Maybe... but I wouldn't want to put a bet on it! ;)

I think Killer wants to breed. He keeps building a nest and displaying for the lady next to him.

Hey, LoVyDoVy - any ideas how to breed him and keep my female safe? Lots of plants? lots of IAL?

Anyone know what to do if you know a male is very aggressive but want to breed him???

LoVyDoVy - May 28, 2007 07:00 AM (GMT)
How many frys you got? Did you count yet? :OO :OO :OO

justhal - May 28, 2007 11:38 AM (GMT)
Oh - YOU'RE BACK, LoVyDoVy! ...where have you been??? :flower

Yeah, I've been counting both spawns. It looks like I have between 15-20 of the LFGiant x RedHM spawn. They're getting big enough to really have an idea.

The red giant HMPKs??? :OMG: ...at least 150-200. You know how hard it is to count, but that's a good guess. They're all over the place!

:WOW: This is the biggest spawn I've had in a while.

Hey - how's your red spawn???

LoVyDoVy - May 28, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
One is between 30 something (uncount) and the other is 5 actually. I count it. :lolo:

I have a girl betta I call Killer. Only because she kills everything in her tank, attacks me, and thoroughly enjoys hunting live food.

Some people think she may be a he, a male plakat that has an egg spot.

LoVyDoVy - June 7, 2007 06:07 AM (GMT)
She wants a male plakat basically. If you want to breed, get one hercules plakat male. :lolo:

Somebody was mentioning something about bettas changing sexes. Palor, I wonder if that's what happened with yours. You should try putting her with a buff plakat and she what happens.
