I just wanted to let you know your fish were shipped today. I through in an extra male for you. Remember these fish are somewhat young so they may not look sexually dimorphic plus the added stress from transport. Give them about a week or two to fully acclimate to your tank. So, you will be receiving 2 males and 3 females. Here is the USPS tracking# :

OK. Now what is that? I have no clue. MINNOW? :lolo: :lolo: :lolo:

Haeun - May 8, 2007 08:39 AM (GMT)
Anabantoids. Same as betta and gourami. ^_^ Very small though, between half an inch to an inch long.

dmarie04 - May 8, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
They are beautiful. I want some for my large tank, but I can't find them in town and can't afford the online prices. :(

Haeun - May 8, 2007 12:12 PM (GMT)
They had them in a LFS in my hometown but I'm at school a few miles off without a car, so they shipped them out to me.

I'm sure if you want, they can ship to you too. The store name is "All About Fish." Very reputable and most EXCELLENT fish store. Really, one of the top in SoCal. Just send the owner Kirt or his helper Edward an email. (PM me for his email. Don't want to post it publicly.)

The scarlet badis were $7.99 each, and I had him send it to me via flat rate priority shipping for only $5. I had the option of a heat pack ($2) but I didn't get it cause it's only a few miles trip.
AND they sent me a free extra one! :P Even better than buying in-store!

They sell on Aquabid sometimes too, so you can rely on them, I would think.

^_^ Can't wait; hope they arrive tomorrow, since it doesn't take long for mail to get around in SoCal.

Yay! :WOW:

yeevia2006 - May 8, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
Wow. I have no clue what are they actually. Where were they originally from? Do they breed like betta? Or just laid eggs? Are you breeding them Haeun? Are the four is the same like in the picture?
They are very beautiful color actually. So they do breath like betta. Interesting. I can't tell from the picture of this fish and he just like a new species. :D

Thanks for that. I don't really have the cash at the moment, but if I decide to get some when I get more money, I'll contact you for that email address. Thanks :)

They are relatively new species. They breed kind of like bettas: they wrap. But they keep the eggs in moss, not bubblenest.

I am going to try to breed them. I got 3 females and 2 males. Hopefully, I get fry eventually.

Sunaga - May 9, 2007 02:13 AM (GMT)
Ooh, those are so cute! Red and white, red and whiite~

..I'm tempted to get some, someday, somehow..

AprilRain1967 - May 9, 2007 02:14 AM (GMT)
HOLY COW!!!!! :OMG: Finding females of that species is like finding hen's teeth!!!!! I hope they actually know what they're talking about and you're going to get females. If you can get some fry, I know for a fact you can sell them for a pretty penny on aquabid. Good luck! Those are some truely beautiful little fish.

^_^ I really do trust this LFS. Really high quality store. I do trust them to get me females.

Anyways, if I get fry, I will post here first. ^_^

They looks stunning Haeun! I hope you get them breeding. Do you know where they were from originally?
Haeun, do you want to put this in kingdom fish forum? :D

AiWen - May 9, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)

Haeun - May 10, 2007 04:28 AM (GMT)

They're so tiny! Perfect for a nano tank! ^_^

Here's a pair (Male on right, and I think female on left)

They look like betta juvies! Except they have stripes! ^_^

And here's the tank they're in. I'm waiting for the plants to grow in; give it a month or so.

WOW! They are so tiny and so cute. I found some informations regarding them. They were from burma. :D. Badis badis is from indian. ^_^ They will breed at least 150 eggs!! :WOU

Greentetra - May 10, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
They're so cute! And I love the set up! :D

davenia7 - May 10, 2007 01:12 PM (GMT)
Scarlet Bada$$!! That's what they should be called.
I love the tank. I have the same filter on my 2 gal. betta chick tank.
:)
They are cuties... let us know when you got beebees.

davenia7 - May 23, 2007 02:34 PM (GMT)
so, when we gonna have beebees???

Haeun - May 23, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
:lolo: They need to spawn first, silly. Then the eggs hatch, the babies grow into juvie, and THEN I can distribute babies! :lolo: Silly.

They haven't spawned yet, and the thing is, I'm not quite sure how to "trigger" their spawning.

davenia7 - May 24, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
maybe rain????
I'm soooo in love with those fish!

LoVyDoVy - May 24, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
Some aquabid seller saying that the female do look like male color. :lolo: :lolo: :lolo:
