Title: What Other Fish Do You Have?

davenia7 - May 3, 2007 12:23 PM (GMT)
So, let's get this going...
What kind of non-betta fish do you have? Add names too if they have them. And pics if you want to .

I will start, though it's obvious from my other posts.
Non-betta tanks:

5 gal. hexagon saltwater nano tank.

Stocking:
2 baby Oscellaris Clownfish (a pair) - Dale Jr. & Danica
1 baby Yellow Watchman Goby - Sam I Am
2 Scarlet Legged Hermit Crabs - Rhett & Scarlet
2 Blue Legged Hermit Crabs - Grover & Sky
3 Nassarius Snails (this number changes regularly as the hermits think it is funny to kill these and try to wear their shells.)
2 Nerite Snails
1 Snail that I can't remember what it's called - Asterina or something like that
1 Turbo Snail - Speedy
5-6 colonies of zoanthid corals.
1 colony of Yellow Polyps
1 colony of Green Star Polyps
4 mushroom corals - 1 hairy green, 1 metallic green, 1 metallic blue, 1 red.
Specs:
125 gph of circulation
filtration: standard in hood filter with tank and Live rock and sand and a small powerhead for additional circulation
Lighting: 20 watt 50/50 diy'd into the hood (12 hours), and a 1 watt blue lunar light(12 hours).

29 gal. Angelfish tank.

Stocking:
2 adult angelfish (pair) - Meaney & Bitey
1 tiger barb - Bandita
14 Cories - "The Pack"
2 Ottos - No names yet, as they are newer and I rarely see them.
1 Clown Pleco - Ampherite
Malaysian Trumpet Snails - I dunno how many as they are never out.
Tons of plants - Java fern, dwarf sword, Hygrophillia, apongeton, and lucky bamboo.
Specs:
300+ gph
Filtration: Fluval 205. also have limewood airstone for surface agitation as the fluval isn't great at that. and a small powerhead for additional current.
Lighting: standard 18 watt flourescent.
Plants: low-tech, no co2, no fertilizer, bad lighting.

55 gal. Malawi Cichlid tank.
Stocking:
I have 15 cichlids in there... I'd tell you the type but I don't care... they are mean and nasty and they are my boyfriend's.
2 Synodontis catfish - Bert & Ernie
1 Common Pleco - Lickey
Malaysian Trumpet Snails - once again, no idea how many of them there are?
Specs:
650+gph
Filtration: Fluval 305. Also has 2 powerheads to kick poo off the sand and make the tank like a whirlpool.
Lighting: 2- 18 watt flourescents

Aiwen,
do you have a pic of the puffer and it's set up?
Is it alone... I thought they had to be alone bc they don't behave?
More info?

Other than bettas, I've got a 55g with 5 fancy goldies and a mess of Asolene spixi snails. I'm going to set up a pair of my albino long-fin bushy nose plecos in a snail-free 10g so they can spawn for me....maybe keep some cherry shimp in there. My daughter is really attached to the guppies, so I'll put them in her tank. Anything else I have, I'm in the process of getting rid of. I need more room for bettas! morebettas, morebettas, morebettas!!!!!! :OO

TY Bigphunny! :D I really do like those silly goldies. I know they take up a lot of room, which I could use for betta growout...but I'm just so attached I can't give them up. LOL I need to take some more pictures of them. They've grown quite a bit and a couple have changed colors on me. The fantail with the orange stripe has gone completely white! The oranda was chocolate when i got him, now he's orange with a red wen. My calico ryukin has lost almost all her black. It's funny how they do the color change thing.

Yes, Yeevia, I have cherry shrimp too. Although they are getting overpopulated again in that tank and I need to thin the herd. Those little red bugs breed like... well, BUGS! :OO

Like say they are like microworm. LOL You can feed the babies to betta as snack. :lolo:

AprilRain1967 - May 5, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
Yikes! That's an expensive snack! I think I'll just post an auction or something. :lolo:

davenia7 - May 7, 2007 02:02 PM (GMT)
I'd buy some, but I'm thinking... expensive snack....
Don't think I have a tank that they wouldn't be eaten in.

I have it in my 29g barebottom Angelfish tank. They actually make good companions with it because mine is not a nipper like other DPs. Before this, I kept it in a 2g tank and it didn't seem to be enough room for the little squirt. If you want to get one, definately do! They are so cute and they don't swim... they HOOVER!

davenia7 - May 7, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
My angels don't behave ;)
As previously discussed.
The puffer would be done and prolly kill the angels in the process.
They only "Tolerate" the cories and the tiger barb that thinks she's a cory.
The ottos and the clown pleco hide from them until lights out.
I won't tell anyone on the angel site... those people would have a coronary about the puffer with the angels. Hehehe!!!

Hey, am I the only freak that names their non-betta fish??
Come on people, names?? set ups?

AprilRain1967 - May 9, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
:OO My goldies have names. The white one is Yukki, the ex-chocolate oranda is Kohaku, the calico is Ichigo, the big solid orange ryukin is Sushimi, & the orange and white ryukin is Katamari. I also have a big CAE named Spazzy.

I'm not very original so naming is a hard thing. If I had a name for all my fish.... well, that's 50+ names to remember :lolo:

davenia7 - May 9, 2007 12:23 PM (GMT)
Hahaha!!
I gotta china marker and wrote everyone's names on the backs of their tanks.
I'm a VERY visual person.
It helped me learn them all.
