Title: Favorite Color Betta
Description: And Reason Why...

AiWen - May 2, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
What is your favorite color for a betta and why? The reason doesn't have to be all complicated but should have more thought than "because it's cool" :lolo:

Okay so I'll start.

I ADORE Steel Blue and Copper bettas because their metallics remind me of a plate of armor. Everytime I look at my darlings I just doze off because the whole armor effect is awesome. You'd think I'd like Turquoise and Royal Blues too, but they are too flashy in my opinion.

Mustard Gas and Chocolates bettas are another favorite of mine. The contrast between blue/green/black and yellow is very unusual... sort of like a yellow wash rather than the usual red. That appeals to me quite a bit... Copper Gas is even better

Last but not least are Black bettas. They are extremely different from the normal colorful and flashy bettas... that gives them a unique status. Some may think black is a far dull color but I much prefer it over any other reds and blues and greens and yellows. It's so dark and sleek and cool for that matter. It's like the fish you'd see James Bond owning :lolo:

Now your turn :welcome

My favorite color in the fish is the dalmation.
I like marbles, but there is something that is so disappointing about having your perfectly patterned marble go solid or cello overnight.
With the dalmation it is a have your cake and eat it too. I get to have my spots, and they don't change. I get MORE spots, but the ones that are there don't go away.
So far, though, I have only found dalmation in orange, yellow, and white. There is also yellow spotted melanos, but their spotting isn't as clean to me.

I like the basic colors. I once thought I would breed Opaques, Red, and Melanos. I just think the stark combination of those three colors is amazing. I had a picture in my head of something like the feel of a tancho painting.
I still think one day I will do those three colors, but instead of melanos, maybe double blacks... so I don't have to keep steels on the side.

Red/black marbles.
I have alays liked the look of these fish, and really likd what I saw on the site of a breeder advertising them as Twilights. Once I thought I would buy from there, but as my knowledge grew about these fish, I could not in good consious support someone I felt was deceptive in various ways.
When the oppurtunity came for me to get these color combo, and from a line with gentic information available to me, I jumped at the chance.
The Halo spawn is my third generation of this line, with Hollywood and Dom being F1, Halo F2, and her babies by her father F3.
The next trick is to get the color to resurface, lol.

As many of you know....

BLUE BLUE BLUE!!!! :WOU

Unlike Aiwen, I GO for the super flashy. Blue has always been my favorite color, so I think it is pretty natural for me to go for blues, and even greens.

So... I would have to Steels, Royals, Turqs, etc.

Oh, and I am also a big fan of marbles. Although it is sad to see a color pattern change from GREAT to so-so, I LIKE to wake up to my fish looking a little different. Something about that appeals to me, like how I am in different moods everyday(I swear I must be bipolar or something)... or I just like change.

BTW, great idea for a topic AiWen! :ROCK

Like Mumu, I love blue bettas. I especially love steels and royals. I don't know what it is but there's just something that draws me to blue and green bettas. I also love MGs. ^_^

well I love marbles with piebald faces, i just love the flesh covered Face. but I also Love oranges, especially dalmations.

my dream fish would be to have a marble look like A classic orange/white Goldfish and the marbleing wouldn't change...I'm not interested in Blues at all..but thats what i have the most of  .

Black...
They are just very regal looking. (A pain to get pics of though.)
Black with colored fins are the best.
ie. black devils, black with red, black with blue...
just fabulous.
It's like they are always in their black suits and black cocktail dresses all the time.

I don't think there's a color that I really dislike. But if I have to pick, I love the bright, flashy colors. Ya know, a fish that you can see in a dark tank from across the room. :D Hands down, anything red is my favorite, especially cambodian. Orange and yellow are very nice too. Marbles, butterflies, and really anything metallic is fun. I love a nice, clean white opaque, hard to find though.. and apparently hard to breed. Oh well, gimme RED RED RED!

Hahaha :OO Lets breed red then! I just got two pairs rose red from Vinita today. Very nice color actually. ;) Oh! Justhal is breeding his red too. We will have a lot of reds going around in here. :lolo:

Well, first off I like Copper Blacks. The non-purple copper I don't like as much as the goldish copper. I just love the flashiness of the copper over the black.
Then there is orange... I just love the flashiness of it.. :D
And then last, but not least, copper/black/orange marble. I just think it is an awesome color combination. :D If only it would breed true...

GREEN!
Actually, I have yet to see the green in real life I want. Yeeves had posted a picture of a black lace green spawn and that's all it took! There was a female in there that I just could have died for! But, of course if I died I wouldn't get to enjoy it, right?
The only colors that just don't do it for me are red and purple. Too many people go gaga over them.
