So many pretty girls! Can you post a picture of Mr Cool? I can't find a post with his picture. With my computer acting up I've barely been able to do any more than check out the new members for the last couple weeks.

You know Nutty, I was thinking the same thing, about needing to see him before I decided. Then I went ahead and picked my fav anyway.

I got him from Shelly on the condition I send her back babies. Same with Hollywood and Domino.
But right now, she is having family issues, and can't take back Halo.. I am hoping that when things aren't so crazy for her, I'll have a lot of fish to send back to her.

I am ging to give this a couple more days.. I am THIS close to saying forget it, and giving the girl to Harry.. He at least has a nest going on, and Cool is like, whatever... And the conditions have been perfect, the conditioning, the water, the weathre, even the MOON was right.. Cool just wants nothing to do with her.

I was hoping this guy was Mr Cool! You didn't mention his name in the other thread. I voted Sangreal. She has a little darker body (hopefully dark enough for his liking) without introducing another color, yet has the Sawarut yellow in her. I really like your idea of bringing out that yellow! Mr Cool is a drop dead gorgeous guy (and I'm not into red)! Don't give up on that idea you have! There's more than one way to fillet a fish! :OO

I am thinking it is a stripping issue.
I don't think he was bred to anything other than dark bodied females, whose stripes are very visable.
Even though Salacious has color, she doesn't stripe up, so maybe she isn't giving him the clues he nees to get him in the mood.
Here is Sangreal after I pulled her from the tank the last time she was bred.. So she at least knows what she is doing..



The other proven females in the crew are Domino and Halo.
Sluefin and Imgae have both been in a spawn tank, but I don't think Sue actually bred, and I know Image didn't.

Well, you can see she is growing back pretty clean, that was my main worry.

True. Some fish amaze me on that. For instance; Deb's Maddie that I bred to my full mask blue HMPK and then to the Platinum CTPK. The plat torn her up bad. I was worried. But she is so strong and healthy all her fins grew back fast and colored right back in. Amazing!

The roughed up pic as taken about a month or so ago, when I bred her.. So she is a strong healthy girl..
I have had some that never healed right, even in perfect water. Spicy was one of them.

Yeah, I've had ones that didn't heal right too. Always saddens me. Or the don't color back in. I have a purple girl I just love that's like that.

Yeah, it will stay clear, go white, or get this, I have had some color in black.. usually when they had black trim

Not the whole chunk, but the black trim will be thicker there.. OR disappear, and that portion will be solid color.
I on't even try to guess what they'll look like when they are healed form the spawning tank any more.

My purple girls areas are clear. Now she looks like she's striped or a marble on her anal and caudal. She's still a beauty though. She's an F1 from my surprise purple spawn.

I wonder if she HAS marble in her.
I have noticed that those fish that I know to carry marble are the ones that usualy have a color change in regrowth.

Well, you know what, it's true, there were marbles in the spawn. Daddy was a Melano BF so marble. Hhhhmmm .. I never thought about that.

Hey, it is a thought.
If we could ask someone with say pure irrids about their regrowth.. well... if they always have them come in and color up, it just could very well be the marble affecting the coloration of the regrowth

That's a very interesting theory. I think I'll pursue the research on it.

Well, it looks like Domino is the winner of the who get a chance with Cool.
This should be interesting.. I have kids off her and her other brother, and I know that Shelly has kids off Cool and Dom.. But I don't know what they look like, lol.
OK... I am going to do a 100% water change, and introduce the two of them sometimes tomorrow.

They have been introduced, but I need to get his tank clean before I can release her.
I know that sounds odd, but I just put the female in a beanie, and put the beanie in the tank for introductions.
if I like how things are going, I just scoop and plop her in the tank..
Sometimes I use those betta condo things, and hve it level with the water, and the female can jump out when she is ready.. I think Dom is a little too old to be thinking about jumping though, lol.

Just an FYI..
Cool has gone from NO bubble nest, to haveing THREE going at one time.
There is no doubt.. He likes what he likes.
Starting a new topic in spawning pair if any action ever happens.
