Title: Is It Bad...

jdwoodschild - April 11, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
:P I'm teaching my bettas to jump for their food. We feed them at nioght out of a little hard plastic tube, and I'm making my guys either attack it before I release the food or some of them (the more aggressive ones) are jumping for it :OO

They can't jump out b/c all of the jars have lids on them, and we have a water hole and a feeding hole on the top of the jars.

But it's so cute to watch them jump for it! ^_^

if it makes you Happy go for it, we are suppose to enjoy them right, Vaca I think they proabbaly have fun to , :bettafish

No, it isn't bad at all, and I think it is fun.
I used to feed my piggy girls one at a time like that in a sorority, so I could be sure they all ate well.
Picture me with a list, and checking each fish until they were all full, lol.

It always tickles me. Many of mine jump for their food. I don't think it's bad at all myself.

no it is not bad. I think it is cool. Yeevs fish do that for him

wildmagiclady - April 11, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
I have to laugh though. I have had this one male bonk his head pretty hard on the lid getting so excited a couple of times.
Smack
Smack
Smack

Ok ok... here!

What is funny to me is that they teach each other how to jump.
I have had non jumping fish put next to jumpers start jumping.
Which is a good reason to always PUT A LID ON!! lolol

wildmagiclady - April 11, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah! Now I find females are the worst for jumping out of containers without lids. I always have lids. I've had them jump out when the lid was just slightly ajar. Little dickens.

I have had them disappear from closed jars.. with less than 1/4 inch half a hole for them to get out of.
But only females.

My jumpers have led me to use glad Press and Seal around HOB filters.
Either that or I cut some needlepoint fabric and let the water flow through it.
Doesn't hurt anything and makes me happy.

My jumpers always become cat food. Dang cat!!

wildmagiclady - April 11, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
Oh my! Well, at least it's completely the life circle and not just wasting.

LaBella - April 12, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
And we see kitty, just waiting for a little snack in your avatar.
My hamster eats chicken.. I wonder if she may have made off with betta bodies while she was free range..
Though I did have one fish disappear here at the new place, where she is now in an escape proof place, and she wasn't loose at he time.

davenia7 - April 12, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
you should teach them to jump through little hoops. Like a big O-ring or something.
Ha!!! I make myself laugh sometimes.
:P

wildmagiclady - April 12, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
Or glue a toothpick over the top of the water and have them jump over for their food!
:lolo:
