Title: My Fishroom!
Description: AKA that room I try to fit in, too.

RandomWiktor - March 31, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
edit: eep, might be the wrong board for this - d'oh! The title was misleading. I guess it should be in Bettas Home - feel free to move it, mods!

Though I'd post some pics of my "fish room," which is basically my bedroom since my parents won't let me put fish anywhere else in the house. I have a ton of bettas, all in 2.5-5g (mostly 5g), so it makes for a ton of shelving and tanks. The room has gotten even more crazy since the pics were posted - there are now two mice on the top of the unit, a 3g tank on the desk (Spyro has been moved to another unit), and the foster gals are up on the main unit on top of the 3g bins. But here's a fairly recent set of photos of my fish room! Enjoy!

Here are my two main shelving units. The one on the left holds many of my fish, as well as some of my roaches, Aish-Tamid the millipede, and my mouse Shiva, and my mouse Feldspar (not pictured). The one on the right has some of my first and oldest bettas (Shyboy and Matamoras, both over 3 y.o.) as well as the special needs fish and the "TB Watch" fish. Note that the first unit now has the two foster females on it, stacked atop the two 3g bins, because it is much warmer up there.

To the right, the smaller shelving unit I started out with at college, where I had 6 bettas in 2.5g tanks. My how it's expanded from there! To the left, one of my stands and the lovely commission Styx did for me.

To the left, my computer desk where I do all of my... sitting around typing! The "Raze Statue" was a VERY generous gift from my fellow RPer Redpyre, who was so kind as to sculpt me a little figure of my favorite character on our RPG. How cool! The other picture, which is way dark because of the window (grrr) is the goldie fry tanks (leaving soon for a great home with elise!) and where the foster girl tanks USED to be.

Here are some critters who live under my bed! Two are very shy bettas who do not like a lot of light or human interaction. The other two are some of my bugs. Don't worry, every bin is pulled out twice daily for health checks, so it's not like they're neglected just because they're not out in the open. ;)

Finally - the only tank not in my room. 75g tank with two 10" common goldfish, who we hope to move into a 300g indoor pond asap :WOW:
Thanks for looking!

My inner betta nerd-dom is very jealous of you. But my practical side doesn't not envy your water changes! :lolo:

Wow, your kids have such nice homes. ;)

Yeah, that's got to be alot of work you've put into setting each of those up. You've done a fabulous job of it! They are all very pretty.

Thanks, everyone ^_^ I try to go for a minimum 3 plants and one cave for each betta; these guys have been through so much crap that they definately deserve it. I usually try to have 5g for everyone, too, but I had a few sprung on me and just didn't have the space. I'm losing some oldies right now, so it'll probably be back to 5g for all soon - talk about mixed bags, eh? Overall, I want to reduce over time (as they pass away) to just 14-21 bettas, as it currently is an unpleasant amount of work to do that many water changes. When you are wishing you only had to clean two or three 5g tanks a day, you know you have a few too many fish. :lolo:

I won't mind to send you my 100 bettas to you now. :LAUGHING
