Title: Dividers Letting Go
davenia7 - March 27, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
So, in my tri-divided 10 gal. the dividers' silicone has decided to start letting go. So probably this weekend... all the kids are going into little rubbermaid shoeboxes from the $1 store. with daily WC's till all is well with their tank (aka, new silicone has hardened. Also, the gravel is going into a big bucket with tank water and the filters going on the side of that bucket and running. The girls might go into that bucket. Not plato or beauty bc they have no manners. Does anyone forsee a problem with this other than the fact that the kids won't be heated for a few days?

Nope, sounds fine to me.
You are alot nicer than I am, I'd have just put them in water bottles, lol.

You sound good, and you have it set up so your filter will hold the cycle.
I think you're good.

:) Sounds perfectly good. I would've done the same (if I was ever to bother redoing dividers.
:OO My divider on my 5 gallon is loose, but I just leave it be. My boy has fun peeking at the girl on the other side, but he can't get over. Heheh.

Yeah, this divider isn't just loose, it's no longer attached and Beauty keeps messing with it trying to get to Plato... her boyfriend.
Silly fishies.

Beauty is very mad that I got the dividers back up and stable. Plato, filled nearly his entire divided section with bubbles on Sunday after getting back in. I had to feed him from the back of the tank so that I didn't mess up his bubbles.
He was soooo happy. He really loves all his girlies.
I didn't just redo the dividers, I will confess that I moved them. I divided it in half and then one half into halves.
So, the sorrority has 5 gals. - 6 girlies
and Plato and Beauty each have 2.5 gal.
Still plenty of room for everyone though. Many of the girlies aren't even juvies yet in my opinion.
I have a girlie, Bella, from Wally World that is barely an inch long... sooooo tiny.
She should not have been sold yet.
She's blue now, but who knows what the future holds.
Then there's Stripes. She got her name bc she's had stress stripes since day 1, for over a month. And yet, she seems healthy and happy, and has a vicious appetite.
Someone please explain to me however how these itty bitty girlies have eggs??? Beauty looks like a monster in comparison... I realize she is probably at least half giant, but dang. Such a size difference.

Oh, I know what you mean.
Most of the Wally's girls I see look like they are about 2months old, if that.
But yeah, they are ready to pop, some of them.
I think it is natures way, have them ready to breed as soon as possible, just in case something happens to the population.
If there is at least one male, and one female, even if she is young, she can pbreed.. because if they have to wait too long to breed, someone just might get eaten.

Any idea about why Stripes is still striped??? Should I worry about it??
LaBella - April 5, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
I have seen them stripe up like that out of submission.
Maybe she is a submissive fish.
Also, the younger fish always have them until they fully color up.

Well, since I think Stripes if full-grown... the size of the other female in my sorrority... I think she's just not the boss. She does let Jewel tell her what to do.
