Ok, I rescued sage from a cup in wal*mart so filled with algae that you couldn't see him. When I got him he had ick, and internal parasites. I treated the ick, all gone. I treated the parasites, all gone and hes finally gaining weight. Then he developed gill flukes, yuck, treated... all better... THEN I noticed he was swimming madly and flicking everywhere... guess what... velvet  just finished his round of meds for that and hes not flicking anymore (please keep in mind this has all happened over the course of a month) well now hes taken to floating in the top corner leaning to his side a bit and losing color. He's still eating, and going to the bathroom so I don't think its anything with his swim bladder, but he's acting kind of like hes given up... poor guys been through so much, I don't know what else to do... :( :( :(

I'd say that with the stress of all the meds, he might just be wore out. I would say to probably, lower his water... get the temp up to 82-84 and give him some salt.

I'd have to concur with that too. Poor guy! I hope he recovers after all the care and love you've given him St Jaded.

update???

bettaqueen - March 27, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
dito that all sounds right to me. And keep his water pristine. You might also try adding ial or bettafix ( natural tree oils not meds) in the water. I had a elderly male that was kind of like that unless I kept salt, increased temp and bettafix in the water

I'd truly go for the IAL myself.

Hey all, here's an update, after a long road I think we've gotten everything beaten :Y :Y :Y After a second course of velvet treatment followed by a 100% water change and the addition of a bit of IAL he's doing like 100 times better. Hes flaring at me again! And he ate today!! 6 whole pellets!!! :WOW: :WOW: :WOW:

Heres a picture from when he wasn't feeling good
