Yeah. You can put the parents in the spawning pairs, and the babies in brood photos, though I was thinking of combining the two, so we don't have to jump from forum to forum, and get lost and confused.

I'm not sure on that one. I've not done any crosses like that yet. Someone else will know though.

I think that there are enough crossed fish, and the malachi is one of the fish who are in danger, because of all the corssing.
Some are trying to concider the same species, and therefor not in danger of enviromental encroachment.
Why it does meet the criteria, IE they can interbreed and prduce fertile offspring, I think they are a unique species and if you have the pure, breed thempure before crossing.
Cause if we lose the pure form, we'll lose something precious and unique.

LaBella, actually that was my first reaction. I guess I've spent too much time around killie folks and get a bit anal about hybrids. But then I thought about it a bit. I am breeding my pure mahachai. I've got a tank full of babies growing out right now. What would it hurt to do a hybrid cross? It wouldn't be taking away from the pure fish. I've got several "extra" adult males hanging out in my community tank with nothing to do. I was thinking it might be an interesting way to work a traditional plakat line. To get that cool wild shape with the fun colors of splendens. I'm sure I'm probably trying to reinvent the wheel with this train of thought. I think I've read somewhere that metallics came from imbellis X splendens or mahachai X splenden crosses. Or, I could be completely full of poo....

Ah, no.. I am the queen on the no sleep department, lol.
Regularly up until 4am, bacj up again at 7, it is a wonder I don't crash and burn.

You know I used to be up til all hours but since my BF moved in with me and he goes to bed at 10pm and wants me up at 6am or earlier.. *gag*.. I have now become an old person and go to bed by 11 or so. Mmmmmaaan! I don't wanna be OLD! <_<
