I am trading these killie eggs for a pair of my bettas from the Houdini spawn! They came today!

The last two pics were of the whole shipment.... the top two are the remaining eggs that weren't fungused... and the fry, hoping that it is not dead.
There was one fry in there, that had hatched, but I think it passed away during shipping. Lots of the eggs were dead too... but whatever.

Greentetra - March 14, 2007 09:02 PM (GMT)
:WOW: What kind of killies?

Mumusuki - March 14, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
gardneri N'Sukka

Sunaga - March 14, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
Woah...cool! Such a nice shade of blue, too. :)

Mumusuki - March 14, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
LOL Yeah, but that is from the meth blue they were sent to me in. ^_^

Greentetra - March 14, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
Gardneri N'Sukka are some of my favorite killies! :P Lucky! :lolo:

Mumusuki - March 14, 2007 09:19 PM (GMT)
Well, hopefully, I will be sending you eggs soon! :)

Greentetra - March 14, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
Are you planning on breeding?

Mumusuki - March 14, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
Not planning on it, but from what I have read and been told, N'Sukka are prolific breeders.... even when you don't want them to be. Maybe Killie fry would be good betta treats... I don't know.

Greentetra - March 14, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
If they do breed then I might be interested in some eggs. ^_^

Mumusuki - March 14, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
Sure. :)
Hopefully I actually find the eggs, and fry don't just pop up.

Mumusuki - April 9, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
Only about 5 of them hatched... they are now eating bbs and aren't growing very fast.... they are SO hard to find!
Hopefully I will get a trio out of them. :)

pouhamu - April 9, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
OMG I can't beleive you love Killis too! Small world! At my fish club meeting there were a crapload of killis. I had to keep myself from getting into a bidding war. I'm going to drive to (crap forgot her name but she is well known from the AKA) and see all her fish and pick the ones I want from here. She brought a beautiful pair of A. australe golds that everyone was dying over.

Mumusuki - April 9, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
This is actually my first experience with killis. I traded a pair of my bettas for some eggs... I just wish most of them would have hatched... now I am hoping the few that DID hatch will live to adulthood killie prettiness. lol

wildmagiclady - April 9, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
Cool. I've never done the killis. Congrats!

Mumusuki - April 10, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Uh... I just updated today. lol
But I will continue to update.

Mumusuki - April 10, 2007 03:40 AM (GMT)
LOL Well, they are too small to be photographed with my STUPID old camera(new one is broken)... so it will be a LONG while before pictures. lol

wildmagiclady - April 10, 2007 04:57 AM (GMT)
 :(

LaBella - April 16, 2007 01:37 PM (GMT)
So, what is the update?
How are they doing?

Mumusuki - April 17, 2007 12:09 AM (GMT)
Well, the ones that hatched are still alive. The other eggs didn't hatch, so I have about 5-6 if I remember right.
It is a PAIN to keep a BBS hatchery just for that many fry...

LaBella - April 17, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Well.. You can always breed a pair of your bettas again, lol.

Mumusuki - April 17, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
LOL Yeah..... no. lol

I just wish they would grow faster, but that is probably because they are still in only a few inches of water and I have been so FLIPPIN' busy, I keep forgetting to start a drip into it.

LaBella - April 17, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
Well START one already.

Mumusuki - April 17, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
LOL Yeah....I will get on that.

LaBella - April 17, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
Did you?

MObetta122 - April 17, 2007 07:10 AM (GMT)
i so love those fish i been looking at that add on e-bay with the instant ones for awile now lol B)

Mumusuki - April 17, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
QUOTE (LaBella @ Apr 16 2007, 09:43 PM)
Did you?

Yes, I did. :)

LaBella - April 17, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
Whooo hooo....
Sending baby killie growing mojo your way!!!

Mumusuki - April 17, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
Thanks!!! I am making some of that here myself.

Haeun - April 24, 2007 08:49 AM (GMT)
I kind of want to get some killifish eggs too, to hatch. :) I am going to set up a nano tank, and I was thinking a few juvie killifish in there would be nice.

Specifically, I want to get this "kit" and try my hand at hatching them. Was trying to decide between red or blue, but I decided the red would look nice with CRS (hope they stay small and don't EAT the CRS ; maybe I shouldn't risk?). I don't know, maybe this is a "project" I should leave for later. But they're so interesting!

Is it hard to raise them once they hatch? How long does it take them to get to grindal worm stage? Is it a lot like betta fry raising? Maybe I'll get some and hatch them when I get some betta fry too. :lolo:

Edit: Haha, guess Killies will be a project for another day. Manuran just informed me that killies and CRS probably will not mix well!   Nup, not getting killies for now then!

Mumusuki - April 24, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
OMG that blue killie is GORGEOUS!!!! *drops dead*

LaBella - April 25, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
And here I was drooling over the red one, lol.

Mumusuki - April 25, 2007 01:12 PM (GMT)
LOL
Haeun, do you know the name of the blue killie?

AiWen - April 25, 2007 01:35 PM (GMT)
Click the picture Mumu.

Nothobranchius Fuscotiniatus Kitonga north TAN97/9

bettaqueen - April 25, 2007 10:12 PM (GMT)
those are so cool . Thanks for posting a pic Haeun. I was clueless to what killis fish were. They are gorgous. Are they similar to bettas?

Mumusuki - April 25, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Umm... they aren't really similar to bettas. They aren't labyrinth fish, don't require tropical temperatures(room temp. is fine), and they have different looking finnage...

bettaqueen - April 26, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
thanks everyone. I had never seen one before. They are really pretty. So you can keep them at room temperature. Do they require and airstone?

Haeun - April 26, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
I think you'd need a little more complex setup for killifish than for bettas.

You gusy know what I REALLY want so badly?!?!

SCARLET BADIS!!!
They're like bettas and gouramis in that they're anabantoids too; they're labryinth breathers too. MAN, are they gorgeous. They're tiny too, at .5 inch to 1 inch max. They ahve some in Long Beach at the LFS All About Fish, but I need to go home to Orange County to drop by that store. -_- Sigh, I need to find an excuse to go home soon.

bettas4me - June 5, 2007 08:35 AM (GMT)
OK, Mumu we need an update! How are the babies doing?? Any pics yet??

Mumusuki - June 6, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
Alright... babies are still small, which I KNOW is my fault because I suck at doing water changes with them.. I will try and find the time to get pictures today... NO SCHOOL! :) But that means MORE YARDWORK! :(
