Well, I've an inquiring mind, and I wanted to know, and so I checked out the closed auctions for that time period.
What you all wanted to knowGreat guessing people.
Now please, Jaded, I don't want you to think that any one is ragging on your fish because of who you bought the fish from.
But the truth is Elmo, like Petfish is kind of known for, well.. pet quality fish.
HOWEVER, I will say this, your boy is one of the nicer fish that I have seen Elmo offer up, and don't you start to feel bad, because of who you got the fish from.
This is what I see, good and bad.
The colors on his tail, and anal are nice and blend well with each other, holding the pattern more or less both of those fins. I just wish that the color pattern extended into the dorsal, however you'll see a lot of this no matter WHO bred the fish.
50-33% webbing reduction is what is called for in the standard, as I recall, and this fish is somewhere betweeen those two numbers. I do think he might look better with a bit more reduction than he has, but the reduction seems to be even throughout the unpaired fins.
There is some drooping in the dorsal rays, and one bent ray, and two cross rays in the tail, which makes him look a little messy.
I have heard though, that if you give CTs sunlight for a couple hours a day, it helps sometimes to uncurl rays, and your boys rays aren't curled badly, just droopy.
Of course, it could be the picture, which isn't the best, and makes it hard to get a clear assessment of the fish.
Now his body, I LIKE his body.
CTs seem to be too thin in the body a lot of the times, and your boy has a nice thick body.. Most every one here knows I like beefy boys.. but not too beefy, and your boy seems to have that balance I like to see in the body.
His vents can't really be seen, but I like thick full vents with clear crowning on CT males.
Now, he could have a better spread, I won't say it is the best, but he is a nice fish, and definately something that you can work with and get quality fry from without too much effort.
I hope you enjoy him, and remember, in the end, that is all that matters.
