Not a bad group of fish. The DT has no split, but other than that they look pretty nice. What did you pay for them ?

If two years ago, I will bid them. Now, I will not. So this is my hint to you. :lolo:

I see it in the single tailed one too, and one of my blue HMPKs has it too... They have double ventrals!
It is worse in my HMPK. He literally has two ventrals where he should have one; so technically, he has 4 ventrals!
It is not completely split, but halfway down, it splits into two.

I wish I can find my camera to show this to you guys but...
Do you think this kind of mutation show up in babies?

Hmm... I had a feeling you should say that, Yeevs. But trouble is, I try to pinpoint faults, and I don't know if I can find any specific ones!

The ventral on the ST wouldn't be faulted or if they were it would be a slight fault at worst.

well my fish arrived from thailand safe and sound today now my transhipper just has to send them to me i also got a sweet looking dt female to go with that guy**** question for rc *** what do you think those golden dragon dt's are made up of ? educated guess is fine lol and do you think it would be a good idea to breed them into my metallic steel line to try to improve there dorsals or would this be a grave mistake?*** i dunno never messed with the dt's before :) heck i just cant wait to spawn the dt's themselves lol and see what kinda rainbow presents itself lol lol :T

yeevia2006 - February 20, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
If you cross with steel to the gold dragon, don't you think you going to get red wash in the off spring? ^_^

(RC) - February 20, 2007 10:42 AM (GMT)
If I had to quess I would say the fish is a steel blue pastel (aka white) with metallic and MAYBE opaque. If you cross that to a normal steel blue that isn't metallic you should get teals. If the steel does carry one metallic you will get coppers and teals. now the fish could also be some kind of yellow with a real light color w/ metallic added. If that is the case you will get metallic teal/red multicolors or copper/reds multicolors if the steel blue carries metallic. The only real way to know is do a few test spawns and see what comes out.

thanks RC that was very interesting and i cant wait to get a few tests under way i figured it was some kind of steel blue as well and got a notion that it mite also increase the thickness of the steel blue color on my fish but maybe not after i read your post i really dont want to turn my steels into teals lol also a point ya mite want to know mite help ya answer my question further the original pairing of this line the female was a non metallic steel but the male had metallic i know that can add some interesting points prolly ahhhh this stuff will make ya pull your hair out while trying to learn it heheeeeeeee . :T

yeevia2006 - February 20, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
Breed it and do the experiment. See what it comes out. My guess you will get red wash.

(RC) - February 20, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
The fish were a non-metallic Steel and a metallic Steel that producted those fish ?

no not these fish RC my fish :) i thought that mite help ya to know what i started with. yes yeevia i expect some red wash oscar hopes there is red wash as well lol i culled my ones with red wash outa my growout last nite left me with 15 not showing they were all females that were showing red cept one really nice finned male figured i keep him around to give away.

(RC) - February 20, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Ok. The steel you want to cross came from that pair. You should get coppers and teals first generation... depending on what the other pair you got really carry.
