He looks like a Cheeto he's so orange. I hope his colour is that good when you get him. Good luck bidding!!

bettaqueen - February 9, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
his color is gorgous. Doesn't he have a spoon head though?

bettas4me - February 9, 2007 11:38 PM (GMT)
Nope, there's no "dip" on his head anywhere.

If you go back to the pic of my blue HM BF male, it looks like on or near his head there is a little dip and then turns up at the mouth. The solid blue HM on Yeeves siggie (top left) is that way too. I think that maybe you were looking at the hump that most all bettas have to some extent,(some worse than others) but the transition from there to the mouth should pretty much be a straight line.

See how the one on left makes a smooth transition, whereas the one on right has a dip over his eye.

No problem, that's why most of us are here......... to learn. :D

The orange has a very small intent right above it's eyes, but not enough to be faulted. I have to really zoom in to be sure it was even there.

ah .. yes .. i see ... i just learned this spoon head thing yesterday on here .... so im looking to see if fishes are spoonheads now!! .. hahahahaha

but i guess it only really matters if your showing thought right!!

(RC) - February 10, 2007 01:27 AM (GMT)
If have no plans on showing or selling fish you can breed them to look like anything you like. It only really matters that you like the way they look if that's what your goal is.

If i remember when I was young, the spoon head is a good fighter betta especially plakat. They attack with their bottom jaw and tears the other mouth.
I think they look like a slide in their head. I do have spoon head hmpk bettas. Their fins are awesome. Too bad they have spoon head. :lolo: :D

Haeun - February 10, 2007 02:15 AM (GMT)
Too bad spoonhead is considered a fault. I actually like that head shape.
I have a dream, that one day, all headshapes will be equal! :OO :OO :OO

SammyBlot - February 10, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
i think i was having that dream and it turned into this weird fair ground ride where people throw golf clubs to try and knock other people off in mid air .... your not strapeed in and the ride is high and spinning!! ....

really ,.. that was a dream the other night .. not the head bit .. the ride bit!! ...

i had a couple night of really freaky dreams!! :hawaiibanana

I stared and stared at that spot you're talking about before I bought him and came to the conclusion that it is a light colored spot, like the one on top of his nose. I'll definitely find out Wednesday or Thursday when he arrives. If it is, he might get relegated to pet status. (or a fish sandwich lol)

I like the spoon shape to :OO :OO :OO bad MOBetta122 :chair :chair but i think it makes them look more fierce:)

Did you get the Orange CTPK? Just very curious. I'd love to get a line going in Orange.

bettas4me - May 16, 2007 09:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I got him and as soon as the water in the spawning tank cycles, (again - long story) he and his sister are headed there. He looks just like the pic three months later, so he is definitely a CTPK. The only difference from his pic is that he's more of a red-orange than the pic shows, but his sister is exactly the same shade as his pic. :WOW:

LoVyDoVy - May 16, 2007 09:35 AM (GMT)
did you breed them yet? :D

bettas4me - May 16, 2007 09:42 AM (GMT)
Nope, still waiting on the water to finish cycling. :Whisssss

nutty - May 16, 2007 12:56 PM (GMT)
I love oranges too. How long before you think the water will be ready?

bettas4me - May 16, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
Don't know, I've already been waiting about a week and a half. Ammonia level is still very high and hasn't come down yet. My red Ct female who I had planned to spawn first has already dropped her eggs, so I'll have to wait for her to egg up again. I hope this orange CTPK don't drop her's before it's ready.

nutty - May 16, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
You could cheat. There's a product put out by Seachem called Stability that eliminates the need to cycle. I got 18 angelfish to try it out. Okay, actually I needed to try it out because I procrastinated with the advertisement in the back of my mind. It works! It doesn't neutralize heavy metals or ammonia, nitrite or nitrate so you have to start with it and continue to add it everyday until the tank iscycled. Basically, it's just a combination of all of the bacterias that cycle.

Guppybetta - May 16, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
i want fry if you get any, I love CTs :D

I don't what % of the young will be CTPK as they don't breed true, but if I have several I'll share!

Guppybetta - May 19, 2007 10:12 AM (GMT)
well it depends on what else was in the spawn, some have more CTPK in them than others while others are one out of a whole spawn of regular CTs.

bettas4me - May 20, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
Well the female is a sister to the male, so hopefully.........
