Title: I'm taking this as a sign
Description: that Rocky wants another chance
Mumusuki - February 9, 2007 12:11 AM (GMT)
A week ago, I spawned my HMPK Turquoise Marble with his sister.... All went well, no tears on either and there were eggs. Well, he ate them that very same night. I have kept him in the spawn tank since then because I have been lazy. And he has been blowing really big bubblenests!
I am taking this as a sign he wants another chance:

The female is already pretty eggy again. Do you think it would be safe to try this pair again now?

Is he wanting to spawn again or is he just getting hungry?? :OO :JK
I think I would give her another week. Just keep feeding her (& him) good and she should be full of eggs again by then. Since neither one was damaged in the previous spawn, they both should be good to go by that time.

Alright, I guess I will fill the spawn tank up with some new water for now and keep him in there. Then add the female in another week.
Thanks!

How long do YOU think I should wait, yeevs?
yeevia2006 - February 9, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
At least a month or plus. Ask RC.

a month??? I have always heard to wait 2 weeks after if there was no fin damage....
Do you think I should breed him to one of my steel or royal blue masked HM females in the meantime? I really want to get a spawn in soon. I want some baby fish! :)

i have spawned my females after 2 weeks with no ill effects Mumusuki she just didnt have near the amount of eggs she did in the first attempt but i cant see it hurting her if there wasnt undue damage and stress put upon her for what its worth ive done it and would do it again depending on how bad i want a spawn from that pair like yeevia in his neckof the woods weather plays a huge role on our ability to outdoor spawn and raise or fry so i tend to push my females i want to use a lil hard at times to get the fry out for the growing season. :T

well, I AM pushing this pair because I have over 10 people on the waiting list for babies... and they are growing restless. lol
I can see why waiting a month would be good because they are both still pretty young. The first time I spawned them, she had only a few eggs, even though it looked like she was going to pop.
So.... I will just have to see. I am up to waiting another month.... I guess....

well dont feel bad or give rocky the :chair :chair cause all my young fish usually do the same thing i dont know if it is cause the first batch of eggs released from the female are infertile or what but the male always seems to have a good lunch on his and her first tries lol i swear it seems like a givin for me lol my green hmpk just did the same thing 2 weeks ago but when my new shipment of IAL comes in im gonna give em another go round and see what happens. The amount of eggs dramatically increased between my dragon's first and second spawns. He, Faulks is still an egg and fry eater though. He's a bad daddy, :chair My copper pair, same age as dragons but with an evil female that it took multiple attempts every 2 weeks to get them to spawn had TONS of eggs when they finally did spawn and it was her first time. I think 2 weeks is ok if there was minimal damage, no infections and really good water and nutrition. At the end, you know your fish better and you can see them to evaluate their condition. So I think 2 weeks is fine, but I'm on the baby list so I'm biased. :OO
