Title: betta bodies

What do people mean when they say a body could be stonger? Does anyone have pictures of the "ideal" body?

I believe they mean that a nice thick body is much better than a skinny winny one.

I think they refer this for plakat? Right? ^_^

Nope, people were evaluating HMs.

When they said stronger, it means a lot of things to me. Maybe it mean when they flaring to show how strong and not the body form. Or the body should be thicker and stronger? RC can you add this? Which one?

It is definately about the body NOT about flaring. It says "body could be stonger". I don't know if that is in relation to the amount of finnage or is just looks like a wimpy body. I personally don't like the super thick bodies you can see on double tails. I do like their huge dorsals though.

For me, I would look at the body structure form that can hold the fins when flaring. Not that type of thick body like doubletail. Those are short thick body and out of proportion.

I don' know what people mean when they say that. I'm sure it's been used for many different thing. The body should be a reverse spindle shape. The body should be NOT have a scoop after the nose nor should it have a big hump in the head area. Another thing to really look out for is the dorsal fin that looks like an extra piece of body has been attached to the body to hold the dorsal. The dorsal should attach to the body without changing the "line" of the body. The same goes for the anal fin. If you cut a Bettas body in half lengthwise the two half should match each other. The body should be a match for the finnage. I fish that has a small body or a large body compared to it's finnage doesn't look right. To many breeders see the finnage, but not the body. Go take a quick look on any of the auction sites and you will find more then a few hump headed and scoop headed fish.

So how do you get a strong body, without getting a spoon head?
