Title: What is a pastel?

East Coast Bettas - June 20, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
I bring this up because I won a "pastel" female at the IBC convention auction. Now from what it appears to my beginners eye that it is almost a light milky opaque with a light irridescent layer over top. I this a correct observation or am I totally wrong? The reason I say this is because I have a yellow orange female with a light peach milky coating and light irrid layer. So what is the classification of pastel an how does it occur? What is the best way to pull it out? Thanks.

Anybody knows pastel, please talk it out. I am not into pastel so I have no clue. I only know art medium pastel color only. Or opaque. LOL :lolo:

Pastel refers to the green sheen in the Irr Layer. A show pastel should apear to be clean white bodied with a thin green Irr sheen to it.

Excellent! Thank you for the information!

Hey Rob, can the 'sheen' be any other color besides green?

from what I've heard, pastels can have any irrid sheen to them (Royal Blue, Steel/White, Green/turq)

Pastels are Opaques (IMO), just without the Opaque factor :)
