Cool. I will order some soon and try it.
Where did you get the decap bbs? Also how long to hatch those eggs? How you hatch them? ^_^

MObetta122 - February 17, 2007 11:31 AM (GMT)
i ordered them from Karma farm on AB i hatched them in the same manor you would any other BBS they said in the directions it would take longer but it didnt .

yeevia2006 - February 17, 2007 11:37 AM (GMT)
How long it takes to hatch the bbs? Faster?

MObetta122 - February 17, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
actually plenty enough to feed hatched by the next day approx 12-15 hours the rest hatched by the end of the next dayand i would say hatch rate is a bit lower approx 80%but not sifting thru the floating eggs is awsome they come in a amber jar for the fridge in some type of brine solution and a ya use a premeasured scooper to add them to your water its very easy quit worried yeevia and order some lol lol !

yeevia2006 - February 17, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
I still have more than 1/2 can of BBS eggs. LOL :lolo:

Hi!
I've been using cyclop-eeze for a long time already and made very good experiences. However it is too big for really small fry, I start with it when they are about 5 weeks old. At my fry love it and can't get enough of it.
However when I add dry food to their diet I always use different kinds of it, e.g. also decaps artemiaeggs, attisons's betta starter,....additionally to continued feeding with BBS and micro worms.
So I can't say wether feeding only cyclop-eeze would cause a nutritient deficiency. But as I think that all one-sided diet might cause this, I try to use a large variety of dried, alive and frozen food.

i agree my fish have a good varied diet as well i always give em the cyclops for the first feed of the day and i also started it at 5 weeks of age perfect size for that age :) watch ya dont feed to much i noticed it clouds water but not to badly. :T

Hi!
I always have snails and later on corys in the grow out tanks - so they take care of that really well ;-)

wildmagiclady - March 13, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
I use snails too. But only Brigs. And I always wait until my fry are free swimming first. Because I have seen a large Brig eat one that wasn't! :o

yeevia2006 - March 20, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
Yes. Apple snail will eat baby frys that seat on the bottom. LOL :lolo:
I saw they just gulp the frys. Even on top of the water too. Therefore, no more apple snails in my frys tank. I told one europe IBC breeding at his forum and he don't believe me and argue for it. So I just don't care of him. Sure one day he will see in his own eye that the apple snail swallow his frys then he know.
Therefore, I am using zibra snails and usually put them in after the frys swim freely. ;)

i use cyclop-eeze in my salt tank, but i never tried it with my bettas... hmmmm...
i dunno, plato will only eat flake, much to my dispair.

Natural selection folks, natural selection.
If the fry is too weak to get out of the briggs way, then good, it needs to get eaten, and that way I am not stuck with a bellysliding SBD fish, cause I am too soft hearted to cull unless the fish is suffering.
Oh, and I don't add the snails to the tank until the fry are freswimming.
As an aside, I know that my briggs will eat live grindal worms.
I have seen them do it.
The funniest thing is watching a fry and a snail play tug of war with the same worm.. The fry usually wins, lol.

personally i hate snails!!!!! the poops they leave all over just seem unhealthy to my fry i mean the snails i had i dont know what they were they were the white kind ya see at the petstore but man did they poop like crazy! i pulled em and never used another snail i prefe my siphon lol.

Same here on putting in the brigs.

What's funnier, though sort of sad too, is watching a juvie play tug of war with the brig's antennae.

Sorry, perhaps I have a sad sense of humor, but it was funny!
