The Character
Name: Meghana
Gender: Female
Age: 2 Years
Breed: 100% Maned Wolf
Family: Mother, father, and brother; became seperated from all of them when she arrived in the Niche.
Appearance: The typical maned wolf in appearance, she possesses an orange coat, which shines golden in the sunlight. Her eyes are a smooth chocolate brown in color, almost indistinguishable from the black pupils within them. The mane gracing the back of her head and neck is slightly long for her breed, and is black from the very tip to halfway towards the neck. The splash of white along her chin and neck is a pure white, matching the fur on the insides of her ear and two-thirds of the way along her tail. Upon her long, slender legs are the typical black stockings of her kind, the ones upon her hind legs stopping abruptly at the ankles in uneven waves, the ones upon her forelimbs fading into the orange gradually. Something interesting about her forepaws is that they're not completely black, but have a band of pale gold about each of the toes. Upon the right side of her chest (which would be to the observer's left) is emblazoned a rust-red mark, which looks like the silhouette of a sphere with a disk-like ring around it. One side of the ring - the side in a downwards incline - rests halfway across the front of her shoulder.
Personality: Upon first impression, one would think this Maned Wolf completely unhinged, especially considering she came from the underground. One wouldn't be completely wrong in this assumption, but it's not entirely correct. Due to spending quite a while on her own, she has developed a tendency to talk to things that won't speak back to her, or just simply won't understand her. These things include animals considered below wolves, plants, inanimate objects, and even to nothing in particular. Granted, most of it is her stating her thoughts aloud, especially in the case of the latter two, but she sometimes holds entire conversations in this manner. Although this is quite the concerning development to most, it's what has kept her from delving into the miserable insanity that had claimed most of the underground's victims. Having never run into another wolf in the expanse of the tunnels, she doesn't really know how to behave around other wolves, or how cruel some of them can be, since the only wolves she'd ever known were her parents and brother. This naivety makes her susceptible to deceit, and this susceptibility is only doubled by her kind heart. She likes helping others, going so far as doing so at her own expense when she thinks she can afford to, and so a wolf claiming to be in need draws practically no suspicion from her. But this naivety and kindness is tampered by a strange timidity, which is born of the very lack of socialization that has led to her naivety. Simply put, she finds socializing with other wolves awkward, and therefore is not quite sure how to handle herself. But for all of this, she is a highly curious wolf, with a tendency to stick her nose (cautiously) into things she probably shouldn't. Once she learns to avoid something, though, she'll avoid it, but she's quite happy to discover things. Open spaces call out to her, sending her running across the expanse with yips of joy and glee, but the underground - which is more familiar to her than the oasis of the aboveground - is in her mind a home away from home. She does wish to return to her family and old home, deep in her heart, but she knows she will likely never find her way back.
Fatal Flaw(s): Naivety, curiosity, timidity, too kind for own good, talks to non-wolves/inanimate objects
History: Her life was quite uneventful before she came to the Niche. She lived in a distant prairie on the edge of the desert with her parents and brother, with whom she had the occasional squabble over who was older. She grew up into a young, sweet, highly curious wolf, one who didn't quite know of the cruelties of the world. One day, out on an expedition of independence, which she and her brother took longer and more often as they came closer to being full-fledged adults, she found herself looking out across the desert and wondering what was out there. Only knowing that her parents had long cautioned she and her brother against setting out too far into the sands, she decided to go against their word for a change, testing her own judgment. She failed the test. Becoming lost in the vast expanse of the desert, and with night quickly settling in, she curled right up into a miserable ball of golden-amber fur out in the open, ardently wishing she'd listened to her parents. Next she knew, she found herself enclosed in the stone walls of a tunnel, a throbbing pain in her head. She's been seeking a way back to the surface ever since.
