.the roleplayer
Name/Nickname: Kay
Where did you hear about us?: Verity - Formerly Right on Track
.the character
Name: Toya (Toe - Ya) Hitsugaya
Nicknames: Toy, To
Gender: Male
Age: 2 Years
Breed: Grey Wolf
Family: Unknown to him.
Appearance:
Toya is a feminine male by average standards. He is small in terms of size and build, and will not grow any throughout the rest of his time in the world. From muzzle to tail tip he is sleek and well-kept, being one to groom himself and keep himself free of dirt. His ears are somewhat rounded and all in all, despite his feminine appearance, he looks a bit puppyish as well.
To add to this look akin to the opposite gender, he moves gracefully though he is quick about it. Instead of 'slinking' about in a cat-like fashion, he tends to dart here and there, his pace always quick. Even so, with long sturdy legs and smaller-than-average paws, he still screams female.
In terms of coloration he is a common mix of browns and grays with the occasional swipe of black in his coat. His fur is of average length with the hair along his shoulders and neck being a bit longer and stiff, causing it to seem as if his hackles are always standing. The eyes of the male are a common golden yellow.
Personality:
Toya is an odd little character. He loves company, almost to a fault, but is constantly edgy and alert. At the slightest noise or hint of conflict, he will be the first to bolt. As such, aggressive characters and tense situations make him nervous to the point of pacing. He, naturally, suffers from anxiety and has odd little fidgeting, etc habits of relieving it when it hits.
As one can imagine, Toya is as socially awkward as they come. Males make him nervous, females are easier and he is unsure about exactly how to react around pups. Considering when he is unsure, he becomes anxious, pups are not his most favorite things or his first choice of company. Even so, he is somewhat polite, though honest. That honesty has a tendency to land him in trouble and hardly ever can the male understand why that is. All he knows is bluntness and doesn’t understand the act of hurting another’s feelings or getting on their nerves.
Even though he doesn’t quite understand others, he loves learning and the behaviors of those around him are intriguing. So, he has a tendency to study his fellows through observation and, as a result, he can predict another’s reaction or actions to a point in which one may think him physic. This, obviously, is not true as the little male is merely observant.
As stated before - he is nervous around males only because he knows them to be much more aggressive than females and less tolerant of him as well. But females, he has a bit of a soft spot for and with the slightest bit of attention, Toya has been known to ‘crush’ entirely too easily. To these girls, he is kind to a fault and has been taken advantage of before which, after realizing, the male didn’t mind anyway.
Fatal Flaw(s): Likes pleasing others, is obedient to avoid conflict, easily led, nervous, forgiving, kind to females, socially awkward
History:
Toya was born to a family he really never knew. Only shortly after he was weaned was he taken away only to wake up in caves and alone. He met some down there, but most were insane and aggressive and so Toya had a tendency to avoid them from an early age. He did, however, meet one female who took him in for the most part. Though he did not stay with her, she provided him with enough food to sustain him in the dark tunnels. In the mean time, to keep from going insane himself, Toya took up watching those he could find. He would stalk them for days in the dark, studying their habits and the like. This went on for 6 months until the older female finally died. Having lost her mind long before that time, Toya had noticed and knew what was going to happen - as he'd seen it before - though it still hurt and Toya made it a point to cover her with dirt as best he could - if to only ease his own suffering. He avoided the area he'd 'buried’ her for quite some time, knowing that she was likely to be eaten or something macabre such as that.
From then on, he focused on keeping his mind straight and avoiding others which, for a social animal, was not good for his health. He grew up surrounded by dirt - knowing nothing of true light. He learned a lot within those tunnels, though, and he is somewhat thankful for that.
As could be expected, though, he did grow just a bit crazy within his dark world - that was inevitable. Hallucinations had a tendency to follow and torment him - especially when alone. Thus he began to make it a point to remain close to others, but never with them.
He lost track of time - years passed. One day, there was a commotion - simple as that to him - and in a blur of events, he was met with heat and bright rays from an orb he didn’t recognize. There was no one to greet him when he emerged from the tunnels - his own mother would not recognize his two year old body. And so, Toya had to learn. Names of things foreign to him he caught when he listened in to conversations, experiences with certain things, and the occasional helpful individual meant that Toya became familiar with his world within a few moths - being a quick learner.
Now, he continues to learn about the world and while his social skills have grown, he still is unsure how to live everyday and what is expected of him. It is possible that his parents still exist but they are impossible to track as - both his first and last - name were given to him by the she-wolf who kept him alive for the first few months of his life.
GOOD Role-play Examples:
As Rin from Myth V - The Shadow of Let:
She moved alongside the ocean as it lapped calmly at her paws. It was trust, or stupidity, that allowed her to be this close. Nix, who had lived longer than she so far, knew how the tides worked. He assured her that she would not be swallowed and she believed him. Why not? He knew everything, and was the only one who knew everything.
Rin sighed, her gaze cast over a body of water so blue that it matched her own eyes on a clear enough day. For now, it was dark and foreboding. Night had set in and Rin was unaccustomed to sleeping alone though she'd done it for a straight year - since Kennedy left until she met up and was mated to Taliesin. Rin paused in her walking. Taliesin...
You miss him. Nix was a bit blunt, and as he spoke, Rin's limbs began to move again as she rolled her eyes. You know better. Nix snorted. Quit lying, you can't do that in your own head. Look, I'm not saying you’re ready to forgive him, but you've got to confess that you - at the very least - miss the guy, Rin. The Terra female's ears flattened, but aside from that she showed no signs of the argument outwardly.
So you do want to forgive him? There was a mild surprise in the spirit's voice - Rin had hesitated. But now, her temper flared, though only as a warning to leave her alone. Her gaze hardened and her ears returned to a dominate, defiant, position. No.
They continued in silence for a long time, Rin lost in thought and Nix reading them like an open book. The next time Nix spoke, he mentioned nothing of Rin's mate. Head's up...calm down, it's Faolan. Rin was unaware she'd tensed until Nix pointed it out and felt stupid as her head shifted to look ahead of her at her 'father'.
Rin continued at her pace until she finally reached him. A familiar scent covered the male's own, though Rin couldn’t place it. Once again, Nix intervened. Leaf. Rin was surprised, her eyebrows raising, but she soon returned to a more normal look as she spoke to the male.
"Faolan. Shouldn't you be asleep...with Leaf?"
As Holic from Myth V - The Shadow of Let:
Ah, Damnit. An orange ear flicked back in distaste as the call came to one Holic Anime-Ninfani. He was away from his den, exploring and poking at several optionally useful plants along his journey. The point was, however, that he was away from Lied and this would be their first pack meeting. Stopping instantly after the examining carefully of a leafy green plant he turned and flattened his ears in indecision.
Finally, with a defeated sigh, his leathery wings snapped open and he took flight. He couldn’t make it to Lied and then to the meeting quick enough, he knew that. Besides, there was a chance that Lied wasn’t even there. Even so, the Psyaer felt guilty. It wasn’t his fault, but still he was somewhat upset about leaving Lied like he was. In truth, his brother needed to learn to fend for himself, but Holic couldn’t help the desire to protect his brother from the world. It was likely to never fade.
When wolves appeared in the distance, Holic immediately landed, his paws hitting solid earth a good distance away from the small group. The rest of the way he walked, somewhat slowly. He had hoped Lied would catch up but when he could see what little had assembled so far, he gave up on that.
Now in the presence of others, his worries eased off of his appearance and a smirk grew in place of them, his ears coming to a more upright and relaxed position. He slunk easily among the group - he had never been one with social problems - and then to the Kinmaster and her pet - er - other higher up. Holic looked Moriko over with a snickering eye, though he made not a sound.
Finally, his gaze rested on Calliope. Dipping his head - his ears flattening out a bit - he straightened up, gave her a friendly wink, and spoke but one word. "Yo." before he turned and headed back into the 'crowd'. In truth, he moved to the side of everyone else, Lied wouldn’t like being in the front or within the assembled.
As he passed a white female, his nose twitched lightly. She smelled of milk and pups. She'd given birth, recently too. Casually, his gaze slipped to her as he walked by, a knowing glint in the blue pools, before he proceeded to ignore her and settle down a ways away, his bored gaze fixed on something in the distance.
As Enya from Myth V - The Shadow of Let:
With a few huffs and grunts, she’d managed to pull herself up a few more steps, but was finally stuck, with her powerful limbs aching a bit. Whining, her ears flattened as her wings opened - just a bit, afraid of catching them on a twig or something of the like she was. With a glance down, her ears flattened farther. It was sad, a Night Aerkin afraid of falling, but she was. Even without the tree or odd position, Enya was not the most comfortable flyer in Let.
"What on earth are you doing up there?"
Enya startled with a small yelp of surprise as she twisted around trying to see exactly who had called to her. Taking a deep breath, she knew it was male but...there was another scent intertwined with it in which was not feathers, leather, water/fish, or a lack of an extra -such as an Igniskin. What she smelled was...unfamiliar, and as Enya continued to twist around to try and see the male, her claws loosened from the bark.
As she fell, her wings quickly snapped to her sides and her body twisted to attempt a land on her feet. She succeeded - sort of. It wasn’t as far a distance to the ground as if she'd been falling, and so she didn’t have all the time in the world to turn in the air. Therefore, Enya manged to land awkwardly on her feet only to topple over to the side immeidtaly after her - her legs having bucklled and body been unbalaenced. Relatively unhurt, Enya pulled herself into a sit, wincing and coughing slightly. Glancing over her body and testing things, she came to the conclusion that nothing was broken and she stood to shake her coat out. It was then that she remembered the voice whom had called out to her.
Fixing her eyes on the creature - illumined in the moon light - the first thing that caught her attention was his coloration, or blur of coloration - not that she was one to talk. Blue and purple? That was odd, not even an Irrigokin usually carried that kind of coloration, and there was even a yellow-ish color in there – one of a few she was particularly attracted to. The next thing she noticed was the odd shapes jutting from his body, the same blur and mix of colors. Were they...wings? Enya cocked her head and stared for a few moments, before she realized what she was doing.
Blinking and startling, she jumped back a bit, her body heating in embarrassment as her head automatically lowered and she looked away, fidgeting her front paws slightly. Her voice was nervous and shy, but it conveyed a bit of an apology.
"S-Soryy..." she paused, remembering his question from earlier and turning back to look at him with a new - distracted - excitement. "Oh! I was trying to get, um… uh..." she whipped around, searching the tree until she found her milky white flower and pointed with her pink nose. "That."
