Appearance: Maya is built like any typical wolf, with a few exceptions coming in through her domesticated half. Height-wise, she is at a medium between the averages for both of the breeds in her blood, making her short for a wolf but tall for a malamute. Her bone structure is thin and lanky with a petite and elegant grace, reminiscent of a ballerina or a pixie. Some would deem her as helpless and fragile on first glance with her tiny features and pretty little smile. However, covering that lean and sleek wolven frame of her’s, Maya’s got muscle. She is a very strong little lady and can certainly hold her own, though the signs of aging are starting to take a bit of a toll they don’t affect her performance when she really puts her mind to something. Same as always her lovely body allows her to walk with a ballerina step, easy and graceful as the wind, but now with a slight flaw, a limp in her left front leg from an injury she acquired while still in the ‘underground’ before the digging and releasing of the captured wolves took place. Maya’s face is elegant and soft, with a heart-shape to it. Her muzzle is shorter than the average wolves and a little bit on the boxier side taking after her malamute origins. Her ears are sharp and pointed, constantly alert, contrasting with her easy-going walk and casual lope.

Pelt-wise, she is a very simplistic mutt, taking more after a malamute than a wolf. Her coat has two phases, both a winter and summer one. Naturally her fur is thick seeing as her ancestors were bred to sustain themselves in cold winter nights. It is soft and fluffy but each individual hair is surprisingly thick and coated with a very light oil substance making it somewhat water resistance. In the winter she develops a double mane of sorts that surrounds her neck and goes between her front legs, stopping somewhere in the vicinity of the middle of her ribcage. Now, because she has been living in the desert climate of The Niche for quite some time, this phase has died down significantly and she only gets the light traces of her mane, still they can be somewhat of a burden in the dry and muggy climate. In the summer months, however, she sheds all her thick undercoat and is left with a light and fluffy layer of fur that is easy to move around in and is pretty comfortable. The colors in her pelt are that of a typical malamute or husky. She has white-dipped paws except for the left front one (the one with the limp), which is light gray like the rest of her markings. The only real defining feature is the gray blaze down her muzzle. The rest of her body is your typical gray and white mottled combination.

Her eyes are perhaps the most lovely of Maya’s features despite her general cuteness. Almond shaped and large with a thick rim of dark eyelashes, she has a beautiful pair of hazel eyes. Brown, green, and blue with occasional starbursts of gold, her eyes are dominantly a deep forest green and completely hypnotizing. Years of love and tenderness seem to radiate from their soft and tender depths, and also years of realizations and hardship. You can tell by looking into her eyes that Maya knows a lot more than one might think. You can also tell that she is a tender and loving could and is very easily approachable. But watch out, behind those innocent looks of hers, she’s got a brain that’s ticking away analyzing every move you make.

Personality:Time has had its effect on the once sugary-sweet little Maya. Much of her is still the same sunshine-radiating little ball of fluff, but some parts of her have changed also. The glint in her eye has dulled to a glassy shimmer, dulled by the pain of loss and filled with the knowledge of one far beyond her years. It is true that as an original undergrounder Maya knows far more than one would give her credit for, and she has become somewhat of a sage-like being offering her wisdom and kindness to all of those who might need it. Her soft smile is less vibrant and excited and has gone somewhat lax, always in place but like it is missing something that once was. Rather than her previous childlike gaze and attitude, she has become an adult, relaxed and responsible, seasoned with time. Some may say that these changes are subtle and unimportant but others miss her once innocent and pure attitude, feeling like this new Maya is a ghost of something that once was brilliant and beautiful. She feels a little bit empty sometimes, like a piece of her heart has disappeared along with her children and her friends, and though this is very true, she still manages to bring a little light into the darkness of the Niche, a beacon of hope for all of those who are hopeless.

Her dutiful side has taken charge, making her a very good person to come to for advice and knowledge. Maya shares her years of experience with other wolves, guiding them to become the wolves they were destined to be, and helping everyone in their time of need. She’s something to the equivalent of an every day angel, keeping watch of all the wolves here as her children. She comes to everyone with an open mind, unjudgmental and sweet as honey knowing that no matter how strange one might be, they still need comfort and love. Occasionally Maya can get fed up or angry or frustrated, just like other wolves, but it takes a very large amount of bothering and headache inducing behaviour to get her this way. When she does, she can get a bit snappish. However when she’s mad, she has a tendency to run away from the things that are causing her so much stress and grief, then she will often cry for a long while. It’s best to leave her alone and let her get it all out. Only Vienna can really comfort her when she’s sad or upset and most other wolves know to respect their privacy. That is another thing. Maya is an extremely loyal friend and is open to any new friends that might come along. Her and Vienna have been together like sister through the entire ordeal of the Niche, and their bond is so strong that Maya would sacrifice herself for Vienna, and even fight for her though she is strictly a pacifist. She will give herself for her friends relatively easily, but it takes a real strong bond to get her to fight for them.

Maya still enjoys the same things she did when she arrived at The Niche, running, hunting, fishing, swimming, stars, and butterflies. She is also still scared of the dark and being alone. It’s gotten so bad that she’s almost always with Vienna at nighttime, like a puppy with her mother. Really Maya is much the same as she used to be, just sadder and wiser, and a little bit older. Her friendship is considered valuable because friends are hard to come by around here and she is so open to them. Once you have a friend in Maya, you have a friend for life. It’s kind of like domesticated dog with their owners, just as they are “man’s best friend” Maya is any Nichian’s best friend, and quite possibly their only. (And I highly suggest not messing with this little girl, if you do, Rale and Vienna will lay the smack down on their sorry hides. :P ))

Fatal Flaw(s): Maya is far too trusting for her own good and also gets hurt very easily. A lot of the time her own personal feelings get in the way of her making a good decision.

- Meets Rale face to face, and begins to befriend him.

- Out in the forest one day, she meets another handsome young wolf named Will

- In time Will and Maya are to become mates

- Rale gets very jealous and vows to kill young Will if he ever sees him with Maya again

- Terrified for Will’s life, Maya tells him to run, the headstrong male won’t listen to her. Rale finds them, a fight commences.

- Finally Will gives in to Maya’s desperate please and escapes, Maya does too, running the other way.
<br>
- Rale sets off to find Will and kill him.

- After much running, Maya falls asleep.

- She wakes up in a place underground, The Niche, where she meets Vienna, they become fast friends.

- Shortly thereafter she meets Jaykar and he and Maya have a sort of mutual crush on one another.

- She gives birth to Daisy, Ranjan, and Coro.

Aww...I love Maya. She's so sweet, regardless of being hurt. But it's the fact that she's so hurt and scared because of The Niche that makes me feel so sorry for her. D: -hugs her-
