Title: Disney, Geiger, Mincy
Description: nobody know nothing

jammen - September 18, 2009 09:42 PM (GMT)
I've been to every wrestling board there is and all I see is posters guesses, rumors, suppositions, and trolls. I know J likes to keep things in house close to the vest, but it mocks the fan base to not release anything.

If J can't say something good, he's not going to say anything. He has to concentrate on the kids that stay, not the ones that leave.

Disney, Geiger, Mincy, Murphy, McPhail - all gone.

I heard the reason why they all left is that they couldn't get a tutor.

You're an idiot. Tutors are made widely available and athletic teams recognize their responsibility to put academics first. If anyone cares an ounce about getting one, it's easy.

I recognize you're just trolling, but you're going to catch some people so I might as well chop it off here.

OUCH!!!

I do agree that those who have not been following the back and forth between a couple of posters might not catch the barb and might actually believe the tutor charge.

One wrestler leaving the team isn't alarming because it happens, but when 3 top recruits and a few others leave in the same Summer it's alarming. Probably putting too much thought into it but that's a lot of talent to lose in such a short time.

To be honest i believe that they all left because we tend to assimilate into the group we socialize with. One person can act as a cancer and everyone can follow suit. I have seen this happen at a few programs and it happens. Whether it have been academics, not getting along with a coach, or something else we can all speculate but my thought is they somehow developed a bad attitude toward school or the program. I am not saying it was warranted or not but it is my thought that this is what may have happened. This is pure speculation but it seems to make sense.

Talked to a wrestler from the Gophers the other day and this is what i found out.

Geiger- Had academic issues, suspended for the semester, moved back to Oregon to try and up his grades.

Disney- Personal Issues, done for at least a semester

Mincey-Transferred to Augsburg, not sure on reason, dont know if he will wrestle.

Murphy- Quit, not sure on reason

McPhail- Graduated with his degree last year and just chose to not continuewrestling as he was not sure about coming back for graduate school, and wanted to keep his options open for starting his career.

mincy is at home hes taking classes at a cc near his home i guess he decided not to go to augsburg

He may have missed the deadline for Augsburg Fall Semester/

If he goes he will start in Dec. is my guess.

Also the school can not make comment until he was actually enrolled if he so chooses to.

I wouldn't be surprised if he takes some classes at a CC this fall that will transfer (cheaper) and then start up at Auggie in the Winter and attend Spring semester. (which would allow him to wrestle after Finals in Dec.)

i hear its between Augsburg Mankato and some division 2 school out in ohio, not really sure why he'd want to go all the way out there though i'd like to see him somewhere in minnesota

budke - September 23, 2009 12:55 PM (GMT)
What weight is Mincy wrestling at these days? Between Mincy, Westphal and Fisher Mankato could have a tough lineup from 33 - 49.

Goldy2 - September 25, 2009 01:58 PM (GMT)
Any chance if Geiger gets his grades straightened out he'd come back to the U?

viratas - September 25, 2009 02:41 PM (GMT)
I can not say for sure, but I did not leave with that impression.
