Title: Note from Moderator
Description: Personal Info is just that -- PERSONAL
lilmatcat - December 3, 2007 03:43 AM (GMT)
A note to all our Forum users:
Please refrain from posting "personal" information on wrestlers in regard to MSHSL violations, legal problems, academic difficulties, etc. This forum is a great place to share information on wrestling accomplishments and results from the mat, but it is not a place to take cheap shots or embarrass a student-athlete if he/she happens to make a poor choice in life.
That type of information isn't any of our business. Let's leave it between the wrestler, the parents, coach, school officials, etc.
Thank you,
Forum Moderating Team
Lilmatcat

Although this thread was viewed more than 1,000 times in its first 24 hours, apparently not everyone has reviewed it because tonight there was another comment about an athlete who is out due to a drinking violation. Yesterday I removed similar information along with a post about someone who is on house arrest. If these types of posts continue, we have no alternative but to limit posting privileges by the offenders.

Thank you, lilmatcat. I expect to see every poster comply. I don't want to see this turn into a gossip/mudslinging forum...

While I agree, how does this apply to public records.
Say the individual got a DUI or something that is a matter of public record.
Just asking. :D
I remember back in my day when several wrestlers from a cetain team in the Valley (haha) had an altercation, and that news flew around faster then a wildfire.
It really was unfair to the wrestlers, and the fans as well. They are still young, and learning, thus shouldn't have to be put through lifes ringer.....quite yet.

I would say that about 99% of the wrestlers talked about on here are under the age of 18 making there records sealed, therefore it is not public information.

It would seem that certain individuals are more interested in tearing a young man, or team down instead of supporting wrestling. Hopefully we all will stay positive; if someone doesn't limit their ability to post.

I am temporarily pinning this at the top to ensure that everyone sees this. I just issued an account warning this evening and removed another topic due to a violation of this posting guideline. These posts will not be tolerated.

I would like to make a comment regarding bashing and repeatidly bad mouthing a wrestler who I agree may have issues to work through, but immature adults who can't seem to find anything positive to say taint the sport with poison. I don't excuse bad behavior, "God gave us children for us as parents, teachers and coaches to raise as law abiding adults with character and integrity---not just great athletes." But inappropriate comments do NOT help.
I am glad to see there are responsible monitors out there who realize that some comments are just too much. You just want to say enough is enough! So again I say THANK YOU!

My Father was a VERY wise man.
He used to say "Knocking Someone Else Down, Does Not Make You Any Taller".
People, Stop making ones self feel better by putting others in a bad light, as in the end the light only shines badly on those who speak poorly of others.
Thanks LilMatCat :)

I would like to thank the moderators for their efforts. To many times this year I have read things about various wrestlers that have nothing to do with their abilities. There is a saying that says small minds talk about people - in other words gossip. I have seen too much of that this year. It doesn't take a lot of courage to talk badly about someone when you can hide behind a screen name. If you want to say something bad about someone have the courage to sign your own name. Maybe that would stop some of the gossip. Again thanks to the moderators for keeping things under control.

I'd vote to have topics related to "transfer rule" banned - at least the constant questioning on whether or not they are legit - if you've got an issue take it up with the MSHSL.
