I'm SO old school. I'm with yutakagr, Toshiro Mifune, but my favorite has to be Renji Ishibashi, Ronin Gai...*sigh* Or Tatsuya Nakadai, in Hunter in Darkness, OH MY!!!

Having loved Ishibashi-san in Ronin-Gai, The Woman With Red Hair and Flower & Snake were rather shocking, to say the least :blink: . I have often wondered what his reputation is in Japan. I only caught the very end of One Missed Call. I have looked on the internet, but haven't been able to find much about him in English, Tatsuya Nakadai, either for that matter...


...and then there's Shin Koyamada, whew...he's smokin'!!!

I had NO idea you guys also loved Tagawa-san! I have loved him oh...forever!!!
My favorite movie of his was "Natural Causes" with Linda Purl. Done in 1994, and out of print now, curses! He was a police inspector helping an American woman solve the murder of her "politicallly connected" mother in Hong Kong(i think) . He was fabulous! ( and totally smokin).

His role in Rising Sun" as Eddie? was pure hotness. Has an Asian Man EVER looked that good in a big diaper-y thong? while eating sushi off of naked girls? C'mon! Right!!?

There are so many lovely Japanese actors that we like but forgot to mention...I personaly like all of these actors,they are awesome,and the reason i love to watch Japanese/Asian movies.I don't like to watch 'Hollywood'movies anymore,cos they are fairy tails,(ghost rider,spiderman)manga,awful remakes(like Japanese Ringu),e.t.c.It's my personal opinion and I don't want to start a ''fight''with nobody here! ;) Cos many of you are from the U.S.and i don't want to insult you :unsure: ...exept El Greco,our movies are awful too!!!anyway I said enought... :rolleyes:

Thanks for the lovely pic of Tagawa-san! My favorite quote from him was that people always thought he was "angry" coz of his "Very Japanese face"! And in real life, He is known for being so sweet and gentle! :D
I want to agree with what you say about Hollywood movies, Yutakagr...Born and raised in America, and I get SO offended :angry: because Hollywood apparently thinks we are all idiots. If you don't know what I mean, watch Japanese "Ringu", then watch the American remake "The Ring". I guess they have to dumb everything down coz we're "stew-pid"? Another fine example that had me yelling at the screen (to the embarrassment of my family! :D ) was in "The Illusionist".
They just kept showing this one scene where they were making a top hat disappear, and then at the end showed a big pile of top hats outside. Kurikaeshi!! :blowup over and over again! <_< OKAY! I yelled! We GET IT! DUH!!!!
and yet, as we were leaving the theater, people were mumbling..."I didn't get it".
I am NO rocket surgeon (laugh here) but c'mon. <_<

I agree with you about Tagawa-san,cos I know he's a gentle man,although when I first saw him i got sooooo scared tzuki37 :eye-popping.
Anyway what i said about 'Ring',I own the trilogy and i felt lucky cos i first watched the original version,and really enjoyed it cos i like scary movies like this,and as always I was expected something as good as the Ringu from Hollywood,not to 'chop'the hole story :huh: But...
And Hollywood thinks that we ALL ARE idiots,not only you,and good actors don't think they are proud about their progects..who cares anyway ''give me the money baby...''
Thats why i'm fighting with my husband very often,he downloads new movies to watch them together.I watched a few, didn't impressed (see what?virus from space,zombies,alien vs predator?)HA.So, i love to watch my favorite jdoramas.. :D :lol: :D :lol: JAPAN FOR EVER,(and mousaka......)that's the reason i'm gain in weight.... :unsure:

while you were talking about the movies - I realized that I once was in the theatre watching the Silent Hill and one guy was constantly repeating - I do not get it.....

Hiroshi Abe is great in "Survive Style 5+" with Tadanobu Asano....my boyfriend calls him the "Japanese George Michael" since he saw that movie...and I think that's not that far fetched...at least what this movie is concerned, he's very funny there.

I'm tellin' ya, it irritates me SO bad!! He's a really good actor! Another one is Tatsuya Nakadai. Can't find much about him, either. It's very odd because I have the Kung Fu HD channel on my satellite dish, and they play older movies, Ronin Gai, The 47 Ronin, the Zatoichi movies with Shintaro Katsu, and if you go and look for more information on the actors in these movies, it's almost non-existant. And as far as I can tell, some of these actors are highly respected. :unsure:

Another terrific Japanese actor is Toru Nakamura. I first saw him in the Yutaka Takenouchi jodorama "Ice World." He's also in the new movie with Takeshi--"The Fiend with 20 Faces" (is that the title? Can't remember) Anyway, I think he's kid of easy on the eyes.......

And I was surprised after a Kimura appearance, that some of the members haven't come by and added their support. As a total bystander, I do think Kimura has star-quality. It seems to exudes this X factor in the way he carries himself, pictrues or film (no, MM, not the same one that I get affected by :P )
