Title: TROUBLE IN PARADISE
Description: Server 7 facing difficulties

Miki - September 15, 2007 11:52 PM (GMT)
PEEPS...attenzione!!!

Note from Invisionfree...
Those of us who are currently on Server 7 may have discovered topics and/or posts have suddenly gone missing following some downtime. Right now I can't offer any explanation because this was rather sudden however it has been reported to Brandon and he will no doubt investigate the situation as soon as possible.

While we cannot offer much insight into what happened or what will happen to the missing data.
We apologise for the inconvenience this causes and we appreciate your patience.

Yep...our NEWS section is down...but don't worry...

Little advice from me...the news are still visible...go to the news section, click on news...see nothing  ...except for the first news page...click on PRINT THIS TOPIC (right on top) and voilá...the complete NEWS...good when you want to save a copy of a thread for your archives as the print version shows the first 20 sites...
You can save the whole thread on your HD without any loss...

Oh dear...what a unexpected event.

The forum will be waiting for the Invisionfree Support to fix things up. I suppose we need to wait a day or two to see if the News section comes back. Thank goodness there is a back up ready just in case.

Just so the 'bug' or somthing doesn't wipe any other of the current posts in news section. I've taken initiative to start up another News thread to continue posting any TK news updates...We can moved the contents of the temporary thread later on.

Member please cease posting at the 'News Thread'until the problem is fixed.

The new 'Temporary News Thread' is here:

Wow, if it can happen once, there's only so much that can be saved. Thanks Miki and Paige for working on it :hug

Update:

Received this mail from Invisionfree support today...

Hi there, as you may notice the problem should be sorting itself out now. Depending on how you were affected you may see all your topics/posts restored soon or it may take a while longer. Give it a day and if still there are problems, do let us know.

Thanks for your help Paige...I contacted TK today and asked him not to produce any news until our news section re-appeares. He agreed...of course

I must try this approach on my forum when I'll be moving and not available to do any news for a few days

Miki, do you have possibility to make database copies? They can be used to bring back a forum if things go bad with servers (I mean - much worse then now). I make a copy every few days and sleep better thanks to it B)

Should be easy as pie...to keep Andy from doing something  ...maybe you have to enchain him or enchant him...whatever...could be the same here... *he ahem... :D

SuperPaige...do we? No, I don't think we have right now...I'm reading this following message in various forms on the support board BETA for Invisionfree for a few months now...

Note that restorations aren't being performed right now, but will resume after Zetaboards is released. Your request will be put in a queue though.

Meaning...yes, there could be a back up (on their site, not on ours...but it's only a BETA site...we have to wait for the REAL thing...and it all depends on one guy...I call him Brandon Almighty...his name is simply Brandon and he's the chief techni at Invisionfree) but we can't use it right now...for the above mentioned reasons.

Paige - September 19, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
Miki,

I don't know of the backup techniques beside sending in a support ticket and hope the techs help......so if the forum goes up...arghh...! So hope that doesn't happens.

Anyway, your test at the Takeshi News thread doesn't work in normal view (I tried the print this topic). The reason I saw it b/c it came up on the active topics today.

Well - if only one thread...we can repost and get back onto that.

You may have read about the problem encountered here at Server 7, if not see here:Trouble In Paradise

This thread is here to continue our 'News Updates on Takeshi' until the problem is fixed.

Some of the previous posts before the 'smoke' came and engulfed it...

Paige, I just did a simple trick...my heart was beating a bit faster as I did it...but it worked...I created a new thread and merged it with your temporary one to test it (uhmmm it's gone now but your post are now in this thread here, hope you don't mind)...then I took the old news thread part 1 and merged it with it too...
Art first I wanted to split the posts since I could see all of them in the mod features and put them into your temporary thread but that didn't work.

Thanks to Invisionfree for not helping :sarcasm ...call me Miki Almighty jay ...and thanks for helping out and caring so much SuperPaige tuzki06...you're the bestest
