---Character Information

Name: Lady Isabella of Danar, called Bella or Belle
Age: 16
Birthplace: Fief Danar, in southeastern Tortall
Position: University student
History: Bella is the youngest daughter of Lady Cassandra and Lord Edmund of Danar. She has two older sisters, Kalyah and Emilia, and one older brother (the eldest), Zacharias. Zach is a knight of the realm, and Kalie and Emmy are both ladies in waiting to Queen Shinkokami.

Bella discovered books at an early age, and hasn't been able to tear herself away since. She has always been the most bookish and intellectual of her family, and has known for years that her path in life was through the world of education. She was also always told from an early age that she would never be as pretty as her older sisters, and thus always assumed that she would not have a chance at a typical noble marriage.

Bella's entrance into the University was forestalled for a few years, due in part to the objections of her rather conservative parents, and in part to her family's drained finances during the presentation of her older sisters at court. Now that she has finally come to the University, she can't wait to immerse herself in books and learning, particularly in her most cherished subjects, geography, history, and politics. She hopes, after leaving the University, to serve the realm as an ambassador or as an advisor to the King and Queen.

Personality: Bella is extremely intelligent and loves to read. She can often be seen curled up on a couch reading, completely oblivious to her surroundings. She's quick and clever, and has a witty, sarcastic sense of humor. She comes off as somewhat shy and standoffish, only because she often sequesters herself to read for hours at a time, but she's very friendly and talkative with her family and friends. She tends to be somewhat cynical of others, however, especially of the nobility, and therefore is not very trusting of those she doesn't already know well.

Bella is generally cheerful, but can become moody when interrupted too often. She dislikes both arrogance and ignorance, finding that they often go together, and never thinks herself too good to stop and talk to anyone, regardless of her noble blood. Despite her intelligence, Bella is very absent-minded, and can seem to some (especially her parents) as negligent, and lacking ambition. She tends to ignore those people.

Physical Appearance: As Bella has been told repeatedly, she her looks are not as striking as her sisters'. She is very plain looking, but there is something attractive in her eyes when they are alight with the joy she feels from reading and studying. She is very petite, barely 5'2" with a small frame, and she seems to shrink into the background in large crowds. She has very long, wavy, dirty blonde hair, which she usually pins back away from her face so that it doesn't fall in her eyes while she's reading. She has an upturned nose, a small mouth that often twitches at the corners when she is amused, a pointed chin, and large, emerald eyes that sparkle with good-humor and intelligence. She can often be seen chewing on her lower lip as she studies a map or book with intense concentration, and thus her lips are usually chapped. Her skin is very pale and dotted with freckles, giving her even more of an appearance of fragility and weakness. As she gave up on becoming a beauty long ago, Bella's clothes often appear slightly unkempt, and are often wrinkled from being curled up underneath her legs as she read for hours on a sofa or chair.

Sample Post: Isabella of Danar had finally arrived. She stopped and sighed, gazing longingly up at her new home: the Royal University. She had waited two long years to come here; two years filled with dreadfully dull embroidery, etiquette, and gowns as her frenetic mother tried desperately to shove five years of a convent education down Bella's stubborn throat. Now she was free of all that nonsense, and she would have all the time in the world to read and study and enjoy the benefits of living next door to the largest library in the country. Speaking of the library, she demurred, and promptly rushed inside to find it.
"Lady Bella, please, where are you going?" Bella's maid, Katalina, rushed inside after her tiny mistress, leaping over the piles of luggage as she went. Bella promptly stopped and spun, causing Kat to run into her.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot," Bella exclaimed, teetering precariously on her tiny shoes. "You don't have to come with me, I'm just going to find the library."
Kat backed away, setting her mistress back on her feet and saying placidly, "Yes, my lady. I'll go with the footmen and the bags to your rooms. Will you be able to find them later?"
"Oh, yes, thank you, I'll manage," Bella mumbled to herself distractedly, already dreaming of the shelves upon shelves of books. She drifted off down the hall, barely hearing Kat call after her,
"Don't be too long! You'll forget to eat dinner, I know you will!"
