---Character Information

Name: Hanna Syria

Age: 14

Birthplace: Corus

Position: University Student

History: The charming eldest daughter of a wealthy merchant family, Hanna grew up knowing that charm and favors equal power. As a child, she was dressed in the prettiest clothes and given the best toys, spoiled constantly by her father (Gerard), because he loved happy children, and her mother, because her mother (Alissania) loved an excuse to spend money. Her female classmates scrambled for chances to come play at her house, to sit with her at school lunches, to be invited for parties; the male classmates made sure to play friendly (though they were still too young to understand why they were supposed to be so especially nice to pretty girls).

Hanna's perfect home life was a bit interrupted when she turned five years old. Her mother gave birth to another baby girl, Pearl. Now Pearl captured most of her parents' attention. She was able to shrug it off and ignore her lonely feelings at home because of her popularity with everyone else until her ninth birthday.

Another sweet, pretty girl came along and stole up the spotlight. Hanna, enraged, fought to regain popularity with offers of parties and toys, but failed because her parents continued to pay attention to- and spend more money on- the little sister. By now she also had a little brother, Victor, who soaked up attention and money as well, being their fathers' male heir.

For the rest of her schooling life, she wouldn't forget that girl, Dyane, and how popular she once was. She did learn, however, that there was more to life than pretty clothes and favors, and made friends with the more common people. She picked up all sorts of small, useless 'knacks' and tidbits of knowledge this way.

Since she was a baby, she'd been clever. Things that were normally out of reach- hair, earrings, cookies- would find themselves in the tight grasp of this girl. When she went into schools, she fought with simple arithmetic and mathematics; once she finished those, she slid through every other math lesson in her life. Languages were her favorite subject: even at ten, she could speak more properly than most adults, and she soon became fascinated with learning foreign languages as well. (So far, she knows Common, Tortallan (is that a language? I've forgotten), and Scanran, as well as bits of Gallan and Yamani.) In sciences, she understood most concepts easily. She liked dramatics, and thought drawing was fun, but knew she would not pursue them. Her family discouraged any of those notions very strongly. They encouraged, rather, her like for children and caring for babies.

As far as relationships, she has had only one encounter. When she was eleven, a boy- one of her friend's brothers- joined Hanna's usual group of playmates. At the end of his first day with them all, he left by running off and shouting back "Farewell, my love!" to a stunned Hanna. Her girlfriends teased her, and every day the boy, Marc, had come back, he had said at least one sweet thing to her. She fell in love with him because of all his brazen flirtations, the first of that kind she had ever received. Before she could tell him, his father was arrested, and his family moved, or was moved, somewhere else. She hasn't heard from him again.

Hanna loves her father, though she knows he likes her younger siblings better because they're children still, and silently resents her mother, for her vanity and the spoiling she does to her children. Pearl is very much the rotten little sister, hating Hanna for the ease at which she learns and the popularity she gave up. Hanna and Pearl passionately despise each other, though their parents ignore it as if the deep feelings will disappear. Hanna thinks Victor is cute, and watches out for him a little, but hides it with pretended indifference because she knows Pearl will torment him if he recieves more favor from Hanna than Pearl ever did.

Recently, she passed the examinations for the University with flying colors. She could have passed it earlier, but she has a firm beleif in laziness and procrastination; "to go with the flow". (She will arrive at the University in my first post, most likely.)

Personality: Hanna has always been charming, in a childish sort of way. She is always cheerful, and has ways of making the most unhappy person twitch a smile. Sometimes- oftentimes- she can be bothersome, pestering whoever's nearby when she gets bored. Though easily amused and a notorious flirt with anyone and everyone, she doesn't fall in and out of "love" with people as her popular friends had claimed they did. She hates being alone, so she will cling to and follow someone she knows around like a puppy if she has no one else around. The only time she ever gets upset or angry, for real (she's always being dramatic for her friends), is when she is safely alone. She's almost always hungry, strangely enough.

Physical Appearance: Skinnier than anyone ever believes, Hanna is often mistaken for having an eating disorder of some sort. She has a very fast metabolism rate, so she eats a lot, but never grows. She's still short, a few inches below most her age, and has nearly no "curves" to speak of. Her skin is pale from staying inside to read, or chat, or listen/eavesdrop, and she dislikes all athletics (but archery, even though she isn't very good) so she has little muscle to speak of. Her hair is silky and thick, a pretty gray-blonde color. Her eyes are a brilliant shade of green, with dark green speckles in them, always alight with cheer, though the left eye droops every now and then because of a health problem in her family (mom's side). She wears comfortable but pretty clothing that accents the fact that she's a perfect "tiny" woman for men.

Sample Post: (OOC: I'm writing this with no information, as I've yet to read over the goings-on of this RP board, so some of this might be inaccurate. I apologize. My internet isn't working, as I write this.)
Hanna Syria frowned slightly at the tininess of her room. Back home she was allowed to pick which room was hers, because she was oldest, and it was at least double this room's size! 'Bah,' she thought to herself, dropping her two suitcases on the bed, 'I can complain to Father later. Now: inspection time! Maybe these people rather quality over quantity? Wow, that sounded cheesy.'

She moved around the room, testing the bed- nice, soft, with enough blankets on it for summer, anyways- the closet space,- tiny but fine for the next week, perhaps- the mirror,- the servants missed a spot!- everything. Looking in the mirror, she scratched idly at a barely visible pimple on her neck, and then her fidgety hands moved to the single necklace she wore. It wasn't threaded on string or metal, but a soft, tiny, light blue strand of leather. The only ornament was a jade flower the size of her fingertip, hung from the leather strip with a simple circle of silver.

Today she wore her pale pink shirt that was cut low, for her clothes, about three or four inches from her pale, nearly bare shoulders, the cut being square in size. The sleeves were both long, ending in small, curly ruffles, with a tight bit near her armpits to keep the shirt from falling off if something snagged on a sleeve. She wore a long, thick blue skirt that matched her necklace down to her ankles, where she wore comfortable, almost modish boots meant for exploring. The top half of her gray-blonde hair was pulled back into a hair tie and braided. The rest of it hung loose, fallen chaotically into place along her shoulders, down to the small of her back, as if her hair was meant to be fashionably chaotic. Her bright green eyes sparkled no matter her emotion.

After the "inspection," she sniffed, 'it will do for now,' and unpacked, before flouncing off in search of new friends to make. 'Look out world, here I come!' she thought delightedly.
