Title: Just buzzing with questions
Description: Short term memory and too much curiosity

Hanna Syria - May 24, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry, but I have a few questions I'd like to ask. I've been thinking very carefully of characters to play in this delightful place, but I can't figure out where to find this information from you, if it's here at all. So, off I go:

Do you have somewhere the relations to other countries? Depending on where a character is from, like near the border, it may affect their personality. Exe: is Carthak a good ally, a simple neighbor, nonexistant anymore, or trying to get at Tortall's southern lands again? What about Tyra, or Scanra? Or anywhere?
Where is everything in relation to everything else? I mean, I've read all the books, multiple times, but I've a horrible memory, and I don't recall ever hearing of how far the University is from the Palace, for example. (Forgive me if that Q was stupid, but I really do have a horrible memory. I write things down one day and look at them the next going, "Golly! When did I come up with that? I'm genius!" and "Oh, gods, that was lame..")
The rules say we're allowed to have two characters when we first begin RPing here. Do we sign them up under one registered name, or do we create two accounts here with the same e address for each character and switch between them?
I was thinking of creating a character who was a page, and when choosing a fief (I looked through the books first, didn't realize you had a page on that) I liked the idea of Pearlmouth, shown in the map in Trickster's Choice. Did you forget this one in your list of fiefs? Or was it destroyed or something?
That's all I can remember for now. I'm sure I'll come up with more as I go on. ^_^ Please reply soon! Thankies.

I'm not sure on this one, really, but I believe everything is where it was in the last map in Trickster's Choice.

I would think the University is at least a leisure walk to the Palace. To Dunlath is a four day trip, and Trebond, if I remember, is at least 1-2 days ride, along with Pirate's Swoop. City of Gods might be eight. Then again, it depends how fast your going ^^;;

You create a seperate account and send them through registry and switch between them.

It was most likely forgotten ^^;

Thats a bloody good point actually! We haven't really covered who's at odds with who or who's allied with who. It hasn't especially come up as an issue yet.

I suppose at this RP is 40 years after TC and TQ you can make certain assumptions. My character is Scanran for example and I've kind of presumed that the two countries are never going to be fond neighbours and that Scanra is kind of in the aftermath of the wars and that raiding still happens as is the Scanran way, but I believe...making a massive assumption here...that the war is long over between the two.

As for the other countries I don't know, our board Administrator is kind of Missing In Action at the moment and I don't think anyone would like to call those kind of board wide decisions without her approval first.

Hanna Syria - May 24, 2005 08:02 PM (GMT)
Ohh... well thankies, thankies, to both of you. :D That answers a bit... as I continue to produce more as I create a second character's concept. I'll try to organize those questions later, for right now my internet's flickering and I want to make a quick reply before I lose the connection, just in case. The top Admin is missing? Anyone know why, or where?

Katherine of Blackwater - May 24, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah Our top Admin is missing and we don't really know why. She usually is good about posting her absence, but we didn't get one this time. And I don't think anyone has been in contact with her, I think.

But to be truthfully honest we're probably as clueless as you are on that matter. :D

Hanna Syria - May 24, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
Oh dear, that's not good. ^^; Okay, so I've come up with a grand total of one question! The others I scribbled on and threw out, because they're stupid anyways. Sometimes it helps to logic things out on your own... and you feel less embarrassed when you realize you're just being stupid. So! The question!

...

I've forgotten. -_-; Gods I'm slow. Curse my short-term memory! *rants angrily for a bit* OK, anyways. I have a new question. If the top Admin is out somewhere over the rainbow, will I have to wait for an extended period of time to be approved or not? :( I'm already antsy waiting. (Not a patient person, I'm afraid.)

Katherine of Blackwater - May 24, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
No No, we have a couple of people that look after the applications. You have to be approved by two people in order to start role playing. So that is not a problem. As soon as they sign on they can take a look at it then give you a tumbs up or a tumbs down.

Hanna Syria - May 24, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
Ah. Okay, here's another (I really am buzzing, aren't I? Curious little me =^-^=): Is there a limit to how big your avatar/signature pictures can be? I'm working on some in Photoshop for a few character ideas. (Hee hee, I'm so bored.) Like, the biggest avatar I've seen is 64 x 64 pixels. Is that because people like that size, or is it restricted?
By the way, thanks for answering all this silliness that pops up in my head. Most people here shout at me for asking too many questions. ^^;

Hayden LaRue - May 24, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)
It's how we learn.

Now as for avatar size, it seems to me that the forum automatically resizes it to 64x64. You can make it slightly bigger if you host it yourself.

Signature size, as for this, no. Unfortunately. Here's me begging that you don't make a huge. I can't stand big sigs. I'm saying don't make it 500x500. Some of us are still running on dial up.

Hanna Syria - May 24, 2005 11:47 PM (GMT)
Hahaha, I wouldn't! I've been in enough forums to know when a signature is TOO big (the heavens know I've seen enough of those) but I just wanted to know for future reference. :) And, I've nearly finished the little pieces I've done (uber-quickly) using a friend's art, so I'll put them up soon hopefully. Again, thanks everyone for putting up with me and my incessant curiosity! I apologize..

Hanna Syria - May 25, 2005 07:55 PM (GMT)
Oh! I think I remembered my very first question! (XD hahaha, took a while, I know) When is it exactly around here? Like, season-wise, etc? Spring, Fall? Thanx!

Hayden LaRue - May 25, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
I'm just taking it as a Northern Hempisphere weather in the month of May.

Hanna Syria - May 25, 2005 09:04 PM (GMT)
Ahh, ok. Well, that works with what I just posted as far as a minor detail goes. ^^; I'm so obsessed with these things.
