Title: Making a comeback.
Falik Al Basiri - May 5, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
Falik stepped up to the firing line at the archery targets. He had his practice bow in his hand. He'd have preferred his Bazhir bow but the draw on that was far to powerful at the moment. He'd have to build his back muscles up again.
He rolled his shoulders and stretched out his fingers then settled his arm guard in place. He swung the bow up and did a couple of practice draws without an arrow. As he pulled the string back smoothly he felt the now all too familiar tug in his side where the scar now ran. It was almost fully healed on the ouside but the muscles were still tender.
Frowning and imagining the face of his attacker on the target he nocked an arrow and then drew and released. He smiled grimly as the arrow thudded in just a little left of the bullseye.
Gwynn of Northwatch - May 5, 2005 10:52 PM (GMT)
Gwynn walked briskly towards Falik, stretching her arms above her head. The cool morning breeze whipped her copper hair back, and a smile spread across her face as she spotted the bazhir.
"Hey, Falik," the page greeted. Her own bow was slung over her back, a quiver of arrows hanging by the trainee's side. Gwynn sidled over to Falik, and stood beside him.
Priestess Kataru - May 6, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Kataru walked into the archery courts for some practice until she was needed by the young princess. She saw Falik and a girl that she had seen once before, but couldn't quite remember who she was.
She walked to the opposite side of courts. She brought out her equipment and put it on. She grabbed an arrow out of her quiver on her back and placed it on her bow. She pulled it back and let it go. She watched it hit the bulleye and smiled. At least I havn't lost my archery skills yet.
Gwynn of Northwatch - May 7, 2005 02:55 PM (GMT)
Gwynn looked up, hearing another person approach. The page searched her mind, Who was this person? Then it clicked, and Gwynn had to bite her lip to keep from gasping. The Yamani commander! Gwynn had seen her before in the Yamani Islands, and it would be a great pleasure to speak to her.
Gwynn watched in awe as the commander hit the center of the target, then blushed a little. She shouldn't be shy, because both her and the Yamani commander had lived in the same place, but as always, Gwynn couldn't help it, adn what more, the page had forgotten her name.
Gwynn spoke to the Yamani, "Hello. You're the Yamani Commander, right? I'm Gwynn of Northwatch, but I lived in the Yamani Islands ever since I was five." Gwynn took a deep breath and continued. "What's your name again?"
Priestess Kataru - May 7, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
Kataru turned to see the girl approach her.
"Hello, Gwynn. It's nice to see you again." She smiled relieved that she now knew who she was. "My name is Kataru Minamoto."
She placed another arrow on her bow but just let it sit there. "You were training with the younger squad of warriors weren't you? I believe Sergent Tsuki was your teacher... was she not? I don't quite remember."
Falik Al Basiri - May 7, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
Falik had cast a wave in Gwynn's direction but had returned to his archery when the other woman had arrived. He knew Gwynn would be keen to talk of the Yamani Isles. He had to give Kataru her dues, no one would try and mess with Princess Miya whist she was around.
He turned his attention back to the target. He did a couple more practice draws of the bow and this time his side felt looser and the draw of the bow felt right.
He nocked another arrow, drew and released. This time the arrow flew and struck the target dead centre.
He grinned. "At least I can do something right at last!" he muttered. He collected his arrows and then moved down to a more distant target.
Gwynn of Northwatch - May 7, 2005 10:51 PM (GMT)
Gwynn chuckled. "Of course! Kataru! It is nice to see you again. And yes, I did train Sergant Tsuki. Though it was a long time ago." Gwynn knocked an arrow, lifting her bow. The page waited, though, for Kataru to answer before she shot.
Gwynn cast a glance at Falik, and smiled in approval. "Good job! Hope I can at least hit the dark part!" Gwynn knew she was good at the bow and arrows, most Yamanis were.
Princess Miya - May 7, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Miya trudged out into the practice field. She had heard of the attack on Page Al Basiri. There had been a lot of buzz about it lately. She had wanted to go see him, but it wasn’t proper for a princess, even if the page had saved her life.
But a chance run in with him was fine in the scheme of propriety. “Page Al Basiri,” she addressed him. “I heard about your unfortunate encounter.”
That didn't sound right. AH, well. Miya wasn't meant to be a diplomat.
Falik Al Basiri - May 8, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
Falik turned when he heard the Princess' voice. He quickly bowed to her. "Your Highness. It's a pleasure to see you in less....pressing circumstances." He smiled at her. "It was a most unfortunate business, the attack. They've yet to catch those responsible. I'm on the mend though, thank Mithros. I thank you for your concern."
Priestess Kataru - May 8, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
Kataru smiled at Gwynn. "Yes, Sergent Tuski told me she was disappointed when you left. She said you were one of her best students." She shot her arrow once again, hitting the target dead center piercing her other arrow.
She looked at Falik. "Nicely done Page Al Basiri. And I do hope you'll forgive me for my rudeness before. I didn't mean to ingore you."
She saw the princess walk in. "Milady...are you okay. Is there something I can do for you."She asked moving to the farthest target in the courts. She put in arrow to the string, pulled it back and let it soar.
Once again she had hit it dead center which made her grin.
Gwynn of Northwatch - May 8, 2005 02:17 PM (GMT)
Gwynn bowed slightly. "That is a great compliment from Tuski." The page stretched the string on her bow taught and let the arrow fly. It hit just left from the bulleye. Gwynn smiled, and turned, hearing another person approach. The page's eyes grew wide, and she bowed deeply to the Princess.
"Yes, the incident was quite unfortunete indeed." Gwynn managed, then blushed, busying herself with another arrow.
Priestess Kataru - May 17, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
"Let's just say, before I left she told me to tell you that she wishes you luck on your journey in Tortall. That was if I had found you of course. Maybe later I can show you a couple more tricks I learned before I left the Islands."
"I heard about the incident from the palace healer. We are very lucky that you had help that night, Page Al Basiri. I believe it was a young girl that helped you?" She asked in question.
Falik Al Basiri - May 19, 2005 05:38 PM (GMT)
Falik inclined his head towards Kataru in acknowledgement of her compliment.
"Luckily for me and not so luckily for her Katherine of Blackwater was there and a few other people who saved my skin. She was injured too."
Falik turned his eyes to the ground. He felt like he'd never get away from the effects of that night. Everyone he met in the place seemed to want to ask him one thing or another about it. It was bad enough battling with his own feelings.
"If you'll excuse me." He turned back to his own target. He worked through a quick volley of arrows, picking up speed and accuracy for each arrow fired.
Gwynn of Northwatch - May 21, 2005 12:56 PM (GMT)
Gwynn looked after Falik with sad eyes. It was true, Falik had changed quite a bit. Gwynn knew how worried Katherine was. The page knocked an arrow, and straightened her bow. The arrow zipped through the air and peirced just a hair right of the bullseye.
Falik Al Basiri - May 22, 2005 02:15 PM (GMT)
((OOC: nocked not knocked. If you knock an arrow you'll have someones eye out! heh))
"Good shot." Falik called across to Gwynn.
"I'll have to give you a go with my other bow sometime. See how you do."
Gwynn of Northwatch - June 24, 2005 02:54 PM (GMT)
((OOC - AH! Woops. Sorry...))
"Thanks." Gwynn called back to Falik and smiled. "I'd love to try your other bow sometimes." She drew back the bow-string and loosed another arrow. This one hit dead center and Gwynn grinned.
