Title: Announcements 4/5
Description: and more staff applications

Realm of Tortall - April 5, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
Ok. Staff application close tomorrow, and only two people have applied. So, with apologies to those two people, I have decided to change the way staff applications and staff positions will work entirely. Although the reasons aren't only because of the lack of applications.

I'm going to throw out the generic assistant, mod, and admin positions. Instead, I'd like two or three people, preferably with some experience in play-by-post roleplay or writing in general, to help go over applications in the registration forum. Basically, they'll be making sure all applications follow the rules, are acceptable, aren't too much like another character, etc.

Also, I'd like one or two people to be in charge of making sure the rules are followed in the roleplaying forums themselves. If they find that the rules aren't being followed, they would PM the rulebreakers. They should be on enough to be able to check all the threads that are currently going on every 2-3 days.

If you'd be willing to take on either of these positions, or if you can think of another position that we are in need of, reply to this post.

And that's it for staff applications; on to other announcements.

The game has grown a lot faster than I thought it would, and it's getting hard to keep up. Thus the need for staff. It means that I haven't done some of the things I said I was going to do, such as finishing the roleplaying guide or starting the boardwide plot. Yes, about the boardwide plot. The idea I had for it kind of fell apart, so if anyone else has any ideas, feel free to share them.

I can help with anything you need. I can do whatever. I wasn't on for awhile, but I plan to be on every day mostly from now on.

Alexander of Rosewood - April 5, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
I am willing to help. I can be on at least once a day. And if I miss a day it would only be like once a month. I would prefer to help enforce the rules, but I am willing to do anything to help ease your load.

Rean of Laraes - April 5, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
:D

Artemis of Tirragen - April 5, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
Lol, I seem to have way too much time in general. In fact, lately I've just been hanging round the board waiting for someone to post, just so I can post back. My boredom knows no boundaries.

I'm willing to help in any way I can. As is probably obvious from what I've already said, I need something to do. Whatever you want me to do...

Hayden LaRue - April 5, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
I'll help.

I prefer to help with Char. applications than being a rule enforcement mod.

Radevel of Naxen - April 5, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
I'd love to help out, but I don't have time to be a staff member full time, I've got me loads of suggestions though, Actaully, An idea to better manage the character bios is a yearbook, so that they can be sorted into pages , theifs riders excedera... that way when the board grows bigger they'll be managable. I've got some other suggestions I'm just not sure exactly where to post them, so I'll keep looking around.

I'm a RPG-er at a huge, exquisitally run forum called AEA found Here You might like to check it out for some ideas.

(changed my mind and editted it)

Miniya - April 5, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
I could help with the Char. Applications too. I'm not on enough to make sure the rules are followed in each post and such =\

Realm of Tortall - April 6, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
Thanks, everyone!

Ok, so we have...

General Help: Rean, Emmi, Alexandra, Bobbie
Applications: Miniya, Hayden, Kat
Rules: Katherine, Stalwart

Heh, sorry about the names. I haven't memorized everyone, so the list is kind of... confused.

And Sara, your idea is a good one. Do you mean that the entire forum should be organized that way, with subforums? Or just the list? Either way, that's very helpful. I'm off to go look for organization ideas at AEA.

EDITED: I can't read. Sorry.

EDITED AGAIN: I've had another idea in mind since I started the game that I've completely forgotten about until now. I'm not sure if it will work. Again, just let me know what you think. Would anyone be interested in being in charage of a specific group-- say, pages or riders? They could, but would not need to, play the in character equivalent of the position-- in this case, the training master or commander of the riders. (And if you don't like my NPC's, you may be able to work out creating new ones.)

You would basically be in charge of organizing this group, getting new members of the group involved, and coming up with plots or activities for the group to participate in. It would mean that different sections of the game would be more specialized, and it would probably be closer to canon in that members of a certain group would spend more time interacting with each other than with other characters. Although this is not to say that they wouldn't interact with other characters at all.

Radevel of Naxen - April 6, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
Well the bios could deffinately be sorted, but also, sleeping quaters should be pages with pages, squires with squires rider's with riders the like. And class, if you plan on running actual classes, you might want to try to get people interested in RP-ing teahcers, because as is, it seems that people are basically posting what the teacher says and does in their own replies. With kinda makes the teacher's charact really undefined. I'll post more when I think of it....

Stalwart of Cavall - April 6, 2005 02:19 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but do we really, really, really need an etiquette teacher with well define character?

Teachers are usually more of a plot devide.

Thomas Rede - April 6, 2005 03:23 AM (GMT)
I agree, teachers are annoying, and the people that play them have to think of things to teach. Which really sucks (taken from experience). Also, why should we RP classes? The reason we get on these sites is to do something else besides schoolwork, etc... :)

Eirra, if you want me to do Riders, I can... That is, if no one else wants it? I realise that I haven't been here too long - at least not near as long as most of the others, but if you need it, I'll do it.

Sara, I was checking out your site, out of sheer curiousity, and it seems that they don't let non-members read their forums. Just to let you know...

Damien of Seajen - April 6, 2005 05:45 PM (GMT)

Realm of Tortall - April 6, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
Hee... Thanks! I will add you to the list.

Radevel of Naxen - April 7, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah you can read some of the intro stuffs , and then after you register some of the OOC stuff, then after your bio is approved the a bit of the IC stuff, then after you are sorted into a house THe IC school, then classes after you sign up for them...... I guess its kinda an either you're all in thing or you get to see nothing but I like it there.

Artemis of Tirragen - April 8, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
Hee, join the no-life club...

Eirra, sort of on the subject but not really, maybe there should be a welcoming committee for new members? Obviously now the site isn't *too* hard to navigate, but for when it gets bigger?

Falik Al Basiri - April 8, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
thats a really good idea. I'd be happy to help out with that too. Or too look after a particular group if you like or do one of the NPC's, anything really.
The only jobs I can't do are checking all posts because of my job, it's pretty demanding on my time.

Stalwart of Cavall - April 10, 2005 05:35 PM (GMT)
I'll go ever every single post. I have no life and am really good at bugging people. Besides I can pretty much recite the class RP rules.
