Name: Ella of Shaila
Age: 17
Birthplace: Fief Shaila
Position: Trainee
History:
Ella was born to a noble couple of Fief Shaila in the dark of midnight. Her birth was difficult on her mother, but luckily both survived, thanks largely to an experienced midwife.
As a young girl, Ella loved to ride, often disappearing for hours with a gentle old gelding, whom she affectionately called "Boo". This was encouraged by her mother Rhianna, strangely enough, as the woman dreamed of one of her three children becoming a Rider. 'Why shouldn't it be Ella?' was her reasoning. However, when "Boo" died of heart failure, Ella was crushed, and vowed she would never ride again. She instead showed great interest in becoming a university student, throwing herself into her studies.
Until her father made a fair-sized purchase of horses at a fair. Taking one look at the grace of the horses, Ella fell in love with riding again, at age 14. She would have joined the Riders right there and then, but Rhianna informed her that she was too young, and sorely lacking in fighting skills. She hired a tutor for her precocious daughter, and Ella spent three years in training, with her mother's mare Estelle.
Now, at age 17, Ella is ready (in her mother's eyes) to become a Rider trainee.
Personality:
Generally, Ella is quiet, only speaking when spoken to. However, if she feels something is wrong, or if she has something important to say, she can be very loud, developing her own little 'bellow'.
She is very fond of all things living, and hates to kill for food, but knows she must, in order to survive. There are animals she will not eat, such as cow and deer, but anything else she can be convinced to try.
Her manner is gentle, but deep inside her there is a wild side, just waiting to be released on some poor, unfortunate enemy. In battle, she is more than likely to be hurt, as her agility is not the best, but hopefully that will change, with a little work.
Ever so proud of her noble heritage, Ella is quick to point out her rank, and, if provoked, will go on and on about her pedigree. You have been forewarned. She can get snippity and snobbish at times, but again, only if she is provoked.
Ella does have a flair for the dramatic, and often exaggerates her fears, injuries and other aggrievances to anyone who will listen. Although she is usually quiet, she will steel herself and stage loud, dramatic conversations with a few trusted friends, in front of anyone she deems worthy enough to impress.
Physical Appearance:
Honey blond hair falls to Ella's collarbone, framing her face. Thick and wavy, her hair has a tendency to become tangled.
Her green eyes are very expressive, therefore making her a terrible liar. They seem to twinkle when she is in a good mood, and become very subdued when she isn't.
Her figure is small, and not greatly endowed in the frontal area. To add to Ella's list of 'injustices' (as she calls it), she isn't the tallest of girls, only standing about 5 foot 4. Yet she holds herself with dignity, hoping that her height won't matter.
Sample Post:
Ella could hardly contain her glee. Finally, finally she was ready to become a Rider trainee! She perused her closet with only the faintest of frowns. What should she bring? She couldn't bring her ballgowns, that was certain. Who went riding in a ballgown, anyway? Not a trainee. She selected her favorite blouse and folded it neatly, placing it in her pack.
"Ella, are you almost ready?" Rhianna of Shaila, her mother, knocked on Ella's door.
"Not quite," was Ella's rueful answer. "I'm not sure what I should pack." Crossing the room, she opened the door, allowing Rhianna to enter.
"Well, your riding clothes, of course!" Rhianna exclaimed, a huge grin on her face. For the Lady of Shaila, being a Queen's Rider was glamorous: all riding and fighting, all the time.
"Mother, Riders do more than ride, you know that!" Ella retorted, her green eyes snapping. Rhianna sighed.
"Well, if you feel that way, we'll consult your tutor."
"That would be lovely," the girl agreed, mimicking her mother's dainty way of speaking.
