Name: Kataru Minamoto of the Yamani Islands
Age: 19
Birthplace: a small farm near Goldenlake
Position: Yamani Warrior and a Former High Priestess
History: Kataru was born in a small farm near fief Goldenlake. Her mother and father were pure Yamanis sent to Tortall to help the Princess feel comfortable in her new world and culture, but when Kataru was two years old, her father was murdered by a gang of bandits. After that her mother traveled back to the Yamani Islands knowing that, the Temple of the Rising Moon would take in her and her daughter. She knew that Raoul would have helped her but she refused his kindness knowing that if she stayed she would of caused harm to the rest of the villagers.
Once she got to the Yamani Islands she went to the Temple begging the High Priestess to take her and Kataru in. The priestess gave in, and brought them in. The two of them lived there for 5 years until her mother died giving birth to a baby boy, but unfortunately the boy died as well.
Kataru was so upset that she ran away from the temple, leaving her past behind her. She ran to a city that was close to the emperor’s palace. The high priest at the royal palace took her in. She trained in the ways of the warrior until she was 16, as well as training as a priestess. She was so tempted to learn about the land she was born in. The priest said that as soon as she had her powers under control she could go anywhere.
It took two years for her to learn how to control her powers. Her skills were so great that she worked her way up to the rank of Commander. The day she turned 19 she traveled to Tortall. Leaving only her priestess past behind. She knew that Tortall would have no need for a Yamani priestess. She was brought to the palace and introduced to King Roald and Queen Shinkokami. She trained with the Queen introducing her to the new fighting techniques that were newly discovered in the Islands. Though she accomplished her dream of discovering her homeland, she felt as if there was something missing in her life.
Personality: Kataru is one of those mysterious types of girls. Since she lost both of her parents in those 10 years she learned to hide her emotions, just like the Yamani training had taught her. Though she always takes things to serious she has a nice and gentle side to her. When people ask her of her past she gets very upset and sad that she just wishes she were invisible. She wishes that she could be like her adopted father, and live his life with him but she just wouldn’t be able to due to her lack of magic and her lack of knowledge for her birthplace.
Physical Appearance: Kataru is a tall slender woman, with massive muscles in her whole body. It gives her a kind of manly look. She has long jet-black hair that just brushes her shoulders. Though not many people know that because she usually keeps it back in a messy bun. Her true height is about 6’2” and her weight is around 160 pounds due to her muscles. She has crystal blue eyes. Her skin tone is that classic tan color of her Yamani people. She bears a scar across the right side of her face from a tournament accident. She usually dresses in black breeches and a loose silver washed long sleeved shirt. She wears silver calf high riding boots to about anywhere she goes. The only jewelry she wears are silver bands around her wrists that suppress her power to safer levels. In all of her jewelry it has a silver pentacle imbedded in them. This symbol was developed by the priest to help control her magic powers. The only way for these bands can be removed are by a special spell that only her adoptive father knows.

Kataru was standing in the middle of a flower field, her priest father sitting on the fence.
“Kataru you need to try harder, your not going to master these powers if you don’t learn control.”
“But father, this can’t be how to do it. I mean I think I’m already going to hear an ear full from the flower mistress…” she looked down and followed a deep hole that she made all the way to the Kemoshi River.
“Don’t worry about that, I’ll take care of her.” He pulled something out of his pouch on his belt. “Here try these.” He tossed them to her.
“What are these?” her eyes grew wide as they turned a silver color and melted onto her wrists. “Father what is this?”
He hoped off the fence, “these my dear are to suppress your power. They should help you learn to control your powers more at a faster pace.”
Kataru picked a flower bud. It glowed a silver color and bloomed in her hand.
