Title: Idea...
wsucougarchick05 - December 25, 2004 12:33 AM (GMT)
I was thinking today (bad idea) and I thought how cool would it be if we, as Kasey fans, could send money to Kasey's favorite charity (charities?) after he has a good (i.e. like after every top 10 or every top 5 finish)??? We each send $5-$10 or whatever we can afford to his charity in his name in honor of his good finish...I'd be willing to contact Tammy and find out if it's okay with her and Kasey and what his favorite charities are.
What do you guys think??? There's something like this, except a lot more time consuming going on through the
Dale Jr. Pit Board Charity and the
Tony Stewart Pit Board Charity but I don't have the time to make it as comprehensive as these two, nor do I want to go to the lengths that they do.
I just thought it'd be cool if we could do something as Kasey fans to better the community and the world, since we are in the season of giving...
Christy, if I put this in the wrong area, feel free to move it...

I think that is a very good idea if it is ok with eveyone I would love to do something like that :)
Scrapbookgirl9 - December 25, 2004 02:06 AM (GMT)
no, no I think its wonderful Alina!
I've been actually trying to think of something like that we could do also so I think its wonderful you brought it up!
Lisa - December 25, 2004 02:57 AM (GMT)
Count me in if you need any help with this.
AmeriKahneGirl924 - December 25, 2004 04:41 AM (GMT)
I'm willing to help and donate.
wsucougarchick05 - December 25, 2004 04:53 AM (GMT)
Okay, since every seems to like the idea, what I'll do is I'll contact Tammy (AFTER the holidays) and see if she thinks it's a good idea and get Kasey's favorite charities from her. Then what I'll do is I'll post the information (i.e. addresses, etc.) so that we can send the charity money if we can.
I don't want anyone to feel obligated for sending money, so that's why I'll just post the information about the charities and you can send it whenever you want.
Scrapbookgirl9 - December 25, 2004 05:59 PM (GMT)
And Alina I'll setup something off of the site(yea, I'm working on getting that redone and up and going) for it too

Thanks!!
And also, if you don't want to/can't contribute money to a charity, I'm also thinking you can donate time or talent...
jerseyfan4kahne - December 25, 2004 08:43 PM (GMT)
Awesome idea!
I'm thinking we should assign a member on the board to a certain race. That way that person can get a bunch of information(articles/pictures/etc) and compile it together so we don't have to do it as soon as the offseason hits and get really overloaded? Good/Bad??
Wayne!

They just take up waaayyyyy too much room....
MissKitieFantastico - January 3, 2005 09:16 AM (GMT)
I like the idea of donating when he wins/finishes top 5, etc.
How about donating $9.00? Kinda goofy, I know, but it's his car number and it's not that much money by itself, but if a large group of us are donating $9 each to a certain organization every time he does well, it'll add up.
Jenna - January 3, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
Hey, 9 bucks.
That's catchy.

Oooh, that's an idea...I still need to write to Tammy about what his favorite charities are, too...bah. So much to do to before I go back to school and not enough time to do it.
Can the snow they're predicting for this weekend be extended to Monday??? :lmao
leannerenee - January 3, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
I'll help out. A lot of you know that I am a fundraiser by profession, so this is right up my alley.
It is a great idea and a charity seeing so many gifts made in honor of a person will be so happy. My advice is to pick one charity instead of a bunch. AND most charities/ nonprofits do newsletters and are ALWAYS looking for things to do articles about. (Believe me, I just did our Annual Report) They'd probably love to get an article written about what it is we are doing.
Seriously, use me. I am a resource! :)

I'm trying to set this up similar to the Dale Jr. Pit Board Charity and they do one charity based on finishing position. Each week, a different charity gets all the money for that weeks finishing position. The links are in my initial post for this topic (I'm pressed for time right now, so I'm trying to make this as quick as possible...I have to leave for a meeting).
I'm hoping I can work with Tammy on this, also.
wsucougarchick05 - January 8, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Finally got around to drafting a letter to Tammy. Tell me what you think.
Mrs. Tammy Kahne
Kasey Kahne, Inc.
(Fan Club Address)
Dear Mrs. Kahne:
Hopefully this finds you in good spirits and relaxed after a joyous holiday season. My name is Alina ******** and I am writing to you to ask a question. I know your days are busy and time is limited, but I do believe my request is not too intrusive.
I am writing to ask you about Kasey’s favorite charities. Why? As a fan, I feel as though I should be able to give back to the community by providing the same amount of excitement and joy that I get from watching Kasey on Sunday afternoons. I thought “What better way to give back than to find out some of Kasey’s favorite charities and donate time, talent or money to them?” With the recent outpouring of resources to the victims of the Asian Tsumanis, I also understand the need for funds to stay within our borders and help those in our country in need of help.
I am not alone in this quest for wanting to give back to Kasey’s favorite charities. The ladies and gentlemen of the Raizing Kahne (http://s7.invisionfree.com/raizing_kahne) and VinylSushi (http://s3.invisionfree.com/Vinyl_Sushi_MB) forums are also interested in contributing to Kasey’s favorite charities.
As I said earlier, I do understand that your time is limited and your days are busy. I do hope, though, that you can help me with my inquest. If you would like to communicate with me further in regards to my request, you can contact me at the address, telephone or email provided above.
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Alina M. *********

you can count me in. it's a good idea. Kasey did do an excellent job this year! i've been donating to the Victory Junction Gang Camp (about $10.00 a month) for the past 5 months or so. But I'd still do Kasey's too.
wsucougarchick05 - January 27, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
I found this on the official board...
Two charities include:
Leukemia and Lymphoma SocietyVictory Junction Gang CampMaybe I'll be hearing back from them soon with some more information. *Fingers crossed*
Lisa - January 27, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah...I saw those up there too and was just discussing with someone about sending a donation to VJGC for the birthday thing going on instead of something material.
Hopefully you'll hear something soon!

I'm kind of hoping that maybe something will be in my mail when I get home (thank god for being able to access the internet on our laptops at school). Lori and I both contacted Tammy at about the same time, just different methods.

The idea has kind of fallen by the wayside.
But if you want to donate to any of the charities, you can do it on your own. Or you can also donate to the Kasey Kahne Foundation (
http://www.kaseykahnefoundation.com ).

we are always up for things we can do around here to help out
Krista - October 11, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
I think that it is a good idea. Maybe we could do it next season.
Carriek928 - October 21, 2005 09:17 AM (GMT)
I agree! That would be a great thing to do for next season! I wouldn't mind helping out with doing whatever is needed. Just let me know. :)
wsucougarchick05 - October 21, 2005 06:01 PM (GMT)
I'll work on it over the off season.
I'm thinking if he places in 1-10 so much, 11-20, so much, 21-30 so much and 31-43 so much. And it all can go to the KK Foundation.
I'll figure something out. And Carrie, I might enlist your help. Me, you...a few drinks at McMenamins? LOL
AmeriKahneGirl924 - October 22, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
I'll definitely participate.

:drunksing at McMennamins? Sure! Which one? Kennedy School? No problem! That is, IF we don't get lost getting there! LOL Of course I can't say we won't get lost inside either... oh boy, good times! Right? :)
I would love to help if you need me. Again, let me know. :) This is a wonderful idea!
