COVINGTON, Ky. - Brent Sherman received top honors on Saturday evening at the ARCA RE/MAX Series banquet in Covington, Ky. Sherman, who completed the 2004 season with nine top-10 and 14 top-five finishes, including a Pork Pole, was honored for his runner-up points finish during which he was presented with the prestigious Bill France Triple Crown honors. The award calculates the highest average finish at three very diverse venues: Talladega Superspeedway, the Springfield, Ill mile dirt track and Salem Speedway, an Indiana short track.
Sherman was also caught by surprise when he was presented with the HG Adcox Sportsman-of-the-Year award from Herb Adcox, father of the late Grant Adcox.
"It's a real honor to receive the HG Sportsman-of-the-Year Award, I definitely didn't expect this," said Sherman. "I try to make it a point to respect my fellow competitors and take sportsmanship seriously."
Sherman is still exploring options to continue to run his No. 44 team in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. However, Sherman is on the docket to pilot the No. 58 Serta Mattress/Hickory Farms Dodge for Akins Motorsports in 2005 in the NASCAR Busch Series.
