Akins releases No. 38 chief Andrews

As part of Akins Motorsports' restructuring in preparation for the 2005 season, the team released Paul Andrews, who served as crew chief for Kasey Kahne most of the 2004 season.
"Due to the changing level of competition and the financial demands in the Busch Series, we are forced to due some restructuring which comes with the release of Paul Andrews," said Akins Motorsports owner and general manager, Doug Stringer.

"Paul's efforts and assistance have been greatly appreciated by Akins Motorsports. There will be an announcement in the near future as to who the successor will be."

Andrews joined Akins in April of 2004. During his stint, Kahne earned 13 top-10 and eight top-five finishes, but no wins.

Akins Motorsports will field its No. 38 Dodge again next season with driving duties shared by Kahne and USAC Silver Crown talent, Tyler Walker.

In addition, Akins Motorsports will field the No. 58 Dodge with driver Brent Sherman next season. Sherman finished second in 2004 ARCA points.

Ok this is just my pure speculation but I wonder it seemed like Kasey and Paul were not a good match... I don't know maybe it's just me but from what I've seen and heard it just seemed like there was something up... again this is just me... a fan looking from the outside in...

Hmmm. i dont know what to think about this. i guess i thought everything was fine but when i watched nbs24/7 last week it seemed like there were problems between kasey and paul.

Paul - sweet guy dont get me wrong - well from what I saw on NBS24/7 - it just seemed there is no chemistry -- side note --- I see Tommy and Kasey together for a long time -- well I hope so !!!

out of all Kasey's crew chiefs in the Busch series this season, Paul was the best....though, they still didn't win. They need to find their edge. Unless there was somethin' else going on.

Actually I think Kasey's best crew chief in Busch was Wes Ward from 2003, he and Kasey just worked great together........but Wes wanted to stay with Ford and Akins was matching the switch.

I still can't really say anything yet, but I still think I know something that would shed light.......hopefully some announcements will be made soon and things will make a little more sense.


And Nic.......we might could work something out for Kole :nan2 LOL :lmao

If I can make it to January then Feb will come quickly..........making it to Chili Bowl and pre-season testing is the worst part
