Title: Milwaukee Busch race
Scrapbookgirl9 - May 10, 2004 02:23 PM (GMT)
So during quals on Speed Saturday, they talked about the Milwaukee Busch race and that they were going to sit down and really look at that race about whether or not Kasey should try and run it. So what do you guys think? I personally think if at all possible Kasey should be there cause he made a committ that unless the weather was a factor he'd run all the Busch races. So I think weather permitting, even if it means maybe losing a tiny bit of Cup practice(now this is Sonoma where Kasey has never raced) he should go......Biffle and Sauter are doing it and maybe even Robby G and Mikey. Plus I think if they can have Bill there in Sonoma, he could finish out practice there for Kasey and I'd trust Bill to set the car up good!

I completely disagree. On all counts. BGN is BGN, but Cup is CUP. It's the series to be in. Why would you forsake a multi-million dollar operation for the minor leagues? Kasey, first and absolutely foremost, has an obligation to Ray Evernham's operation. I understand going in that Kasey made commitments to both, but if it's not physically or mentally possible to fulfill both obligations, he needs to choose Cup because that's where the prestige is, and that's where he's not only making a name for himself nationwide, but also competing for a championship. We can't forget that. He's 41 points out of 10th place which he needs to be in, to be a contender for the C4C (or some crap, I hate the new system).
As far as Bill goes... Bill is not a road course racer. He did extremely well last year even with his broken ankle, but still... If we were talking about Pocono and Atlanta, where Bill has had a lot of success, then that might be different.
On a somewhat related, somewhat not, note, regardless of who the driver is, I don't agree with the guys running both series' at the same time. Not because they take away from other drivers, but simply because it has got to affect your concentration. You can't possibly give both entities the 110% it takes to be as successful as you can be, and that isn't fair to anyone. Just look at Mikey. His BGN season is flourishing while his Cup team is going swirly down the drain-- and now there's rumor of him being out of the 15. He better get his head on straight, and right quick if ya ask me.
Edited: Looked up how far out of 10th Kasey is. Don't want to put out any false info here. LOL

Notice I did say a TINY bit of Cup practice, I wouldn't want him skipping a whole hour or more of practice to get there for the Busch race.(okay so that sentence comes off as really negative, but its not meant that way just saying I wouldn't want him to miss a ton of Cup practice but I'd be cool with missing a little) Plus I think mentally and physically Kasey can handle it. I'd really like to see him run all the races in both just because he has a good chance in both to have great points finishes. What they decide, we'll see but I think if its possible Kasey will try and do it.

Okay so I went looking and the schedule for Sonoma is out, but not Milwaukee........BUT I've been thinking about it. Milwaukee is central time right? Okay so Cup practice ends at 3pm Eastern time, so 2pm Milwaukee time. There is no way the Milwaukee race starts before 7pm Eastern time, with odds are making it closer to 8pm Eastern time. So that gives them 4 to 5 hours to get here from the time Cup practice ends. No need to hurry for the drivers meeting cause they'd already be starting at the back of the field since the Milwaukee race is a one-day show and someone else would have qualified the car. I would think they should be able to get there in a 4 hour time period......so sounds like as long as the weather holds out that they shouldn't have a problem with missing any Cup practice.

I didn't take it negatively. Don't trip, s'all good.
As if my opinion matters, because it's completely up to Kasey, his owners, sponsors, etc. but I just feel running both series' is a hindrance more than it is a help.

yeah milwaukee is central time...okay i'm going to be very disappointed if he isn't in milwaukee because i was looking forward to seeing him race. but i guess if he can't he can't, but he can get it done. :checkered

Miss Kitie-
About Bill not being a good road course racer, let me say this. Bill got his first win at Riverside (a road course), was leading Sonoma (yet another) and usually runs better than the results show at these types of tracks. If it was not for some unavoidable misfortune I think we could all see how good of a road racer Bill is. Sorry if it comes across the wrong way but Think about it.
