EMS did pretty good!

carriekins - January 30, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
Those are very consistent speeds for EMS. Good. :)

Katie9 - January 30, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
Looks good :)

Court - January 30, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
So far Kasey's the quickest in the afternoon session.. with Tony and Clint behind him

Nice. B)

KKAngel9 - January 30, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Yay for EMS! Hope this bodes well come March!

NeverBeenThawed - January 30, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
And...Kasey also smacked the wall in the car he won 5/6 races with last year. Which of course isn't the best/favorite car, so, yeah.

Well boo on that.

But I still like the speeds.

carriekins - January 30, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
All he has to do is keep 128 off the wall and on top of the stick in March and all will be well.

And I will feel VERY GOOD about dropping $1800 to go to Vegas. :hehe

Princess_Sara400 - January 30, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
Kasey wasn't the only one. They said there was alot who hit the wall ... yesterday

The afternoon session introduced a whole new set of problems, as many teams searched for balance and suffered an abnormally high tally of cut and blistered tires. Greg Biffle wadded up his car after he cut a tire early in testing. But when Kasey Kahne blew a right front tire and destroyed Chassis 128 — the best car of the stable that carried him to most of the No. 9's six wins last year — the garage took notice.

"That was my car," said a remorseful Kahne, who had posted the fastest lap of the day (29.239 seconds at 184.685 mph) in his favorite chassis. "That was the car, the good car. We don't have cars that are better, but we have cars that are that good."

Katie9 - January 30, 2007 12:23 PM (GMT)
They can fix the car before the start of the season easily.

Isn't 128 the same car Kasey smacked the wall with in Michigan too?

yup that would be the car

I hope they can fix it

Speedy9Kase - January 30, 2007 01:01 PM (GMT)
I was trying to search for pictures to see how bad the damage was, but wasn't able to find any. All the cars I saw yesturday that hit the wall ranged from fixable to pretty beat up. I was afraid that it was 128 and that it'd be pretty bad. I really hope they can fix it!

*crossing fingers that its fixable*

Katie9 - January 30, 2007 01:08 PM (GMT)
I saw Reed's car and I know his won't be fixable. But I'm pretty sure the 9 crew can fix that car in time for the season to start.

carriekins - January 30, 2007 01:48 PM (GMT)
Kasey's wrecked in 128 I think 3 times now. Kenny will assess the damage, but even if they have to build a new one, they'll be using the 128/131 model. :)

Princess_Sara400 - January 30, 2007 02:56 PM (GMT)
From what I heard he just slapped the wall. He slapped the wall in michigan and went on to win the race the next day.

carriekins - January 30, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
Hopefully there will be pictures at some point. As long as it wasn't a 2004 Lowe's Fall Race blown right front tire (RIP Chassis 55), we should be good. :hehe

He slapped the wall at Michigan and won, and then didn't he smack the wall and go on to a top 5 in it at another race?

Princess_Sara400 - January 30, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
Someone posted this snipplet of an article over on Klub Kahne. :

I doubt its destroyed, destroyed. Just damaged. Kenny and they boys can fix it up

carriekins - January 30, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
Peter quoted that upthread, too. :hehe

It worries me a bit that Kasey seems that upset about the damage, but 128 was never his "favorite" car, either, so... I'm sure there will be an update at some point as to whether or not it's fixable.

Princess_Sara400 - January 30, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
I think the media might have... worsened it a bit. Cause first accounts from people there just said he slapped the wall. Now they are saying its ruined? Kenny can fix it I have no worries

racefan9 - January 30, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
I hope they fix that car!

Court - January 30, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
At Michigan, he didn't blow a tire. He got loose, and scraped the wall. By the word 'destroyed' it sounds like it might not be fixable.

Speedy9Kase - January 30, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
It's the word 'destroyed' that bothers me too. I have heard that he just flattened the right side and that's usually fixable. With blown tires you never know. I'm sure they will talk about it on Speed tonight with testing, and they will probably show it too. All we can hope is that the media made it sound worse then what it was and that the 9 crew can fix it.

Does anyone know if 128 was 9a or 9b? Either way both of them were fast. That's a good thing.

Court - January 30, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
I think 128 was 9b

exactly. They have that in their favor

Thanks! I was just curious.

carriekins - January 30, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
They *were* both fast, and I'm pretty sure they still have a 128-clone in the shop that they never rolled out last year. They're building all the intermediate cars on that model for now, so hopefully a better car can come out of this, IF 128 is, in fact, destroyed.

Princess_Sara400 - January 30, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
getty images has a picture of Biffle's and it was BAD. If Kasey's was really bad I think there would be a picture of it

carriekins - January 30, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
Biffle probably hates Vegas at this point. Poor Biff.

I'm really surprised there's not a picture of Kasey's. Even if it's to point out that it's the 5-race-winning-car that got pancaked on one side.

Court - January 30, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Tuesday AM SPeeds

I take that back.. 9a must've been 128.. 'cause I don't even see it on there..

carriekins - January 30, 2007 09:19 PM (GMT)
Well that there is a mighty big difference between the two days.

And I'm gonna go with 9a, too, Court.

Speedy9Kase - January 30, 2007 10:12 PM (GMT)
Wow, that's really a big change from yesturday! Kasey's speed stayed around where it was yesturday, though it's alot farther down the list. Sadler's times were good though so they'll probably learn alot of info from them.

Menard must have been in qualifying trim because 188 is a huge difference from yesturday and not many teams are close to that time.

Court - January 31, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
They just showed the car on Preseason Thunder.. nice and smushed.

Same - January 31, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
Why do they always have to change race tracks? :bam

Court - January 31, 2007 01:52 AM (GMT)

carriekins - January 31, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
Well, his times are nothing if not consistent... I guess?
