NASCAR on the strip?

NASCAR's annual awards banquet might move from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, where it has been held since 1981, to Las Vegas as early as this year. The site has not been finalized but the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority met with NASCAR officials in December.
"With the growth of the sport, more people want to attend the banquet. More people want to have functions during the banquet. This town thrives on big events," said Las Vegas Motor Speedway general manager Chris Powell.

Vegas does do large events VERY well. I could see this working.

I like the idea. :) I do agree that its sad that its moving from NYC...but sometimes change is good. I can see this as being good.

of course the year i say i am going to NYC to see NCY and the NASCAR while I am there they say they might move it lol unfortunately i can't do Las Vegas.
if they move it would be interesting to see how it all works out, drivers/teams like it and how well it does.

I would love it to be Vegas......one of the companies we deal with at work has their big thing every year in Vegas right about the end of Nov or first week of Dec. I could mix work and NASCAR, I like that very much!
it will be interesting to see if it happens though, cause I thought Brian France wanted the big stage that NYC gives them and some of that wouldn't be possible in Vegas. But personally I'd love to see it in Vegas rather than NYC.

I like NYC better. I think it would end up being cheesy and over the top if they moved it to Vegas.
