Title: Interesting show on History channel
Description: Mt. Ranier

I just watched a very interesting show on History channel about distruction that will most likely occur when Mt Rainer erupts again. Enumclaw and the other towns around the volcano will be gone. It was scary to watch the simulations of what happens during and immediately following an eruption. The show was Mega Disasters: American Volcano.

Oye.. they said that Mt. Rainer was supposed to errupt when I lived in WA 3 years ago. It's waaay overdue.

I've seen that, or something very much like it. It was interesting and scary at the same time. I like shows like that, though.

The scariest thing for me was that they will only have about 40 minutes to evacuate before the slide hits. The estimation was something like 25,000 deaths. It would become the largest most devastating natural disaster in American history.
It is showing more and more signs that the eruption is coming. The are monitoring how solid the rock is on the sides. One side the rock has altered to the equivalent of dry clay. You can break it apart with your hands. They said this was caused by the gases rising to the surface.

It would be scary if that happened.

Has anyone here ever seen any of the specials they have on Supervolcanoes? I have....Yellowstone Park is a supervolcano, overdue for an explosion...and when a SUPERvolcano erupts, the entire world is affected; weather patterns, global cooling occurs which equates to food shortage (oh, but at least there wouldn't be global warming, right Al Gore? :wacko ). Living in WA (eastern though, not in the path of destruction), and with my dad being an engineer, he's told me numerous times how Seattle is due for a massive earthquake as it is built on one of the largest faults in North America, and how Mt. Rainier is overdue for an eruption. Even if Rainier doesn't erupt, there is a great chance of a lahar (a volcanic mudflow), which could cause lots, lots, LOTS of damage. It's scary, but it's the earth and a reality. I'm sure the Democrats or Al Gore would find a way to blame humans for geology though, somehow....

I pretty much live right at Mt. Rainier. I pretty much have 0 time to get out if it starts erupting..it freaks me out whenever I see movies about it and also Mt. St. Helens, but what can I do? I have to live my life. I can't be in constant fear about it, so whenever those types of shows are on I turn them off.

I've watched some of those shows and they scare me too. I don't even live around places that have volcanos and earthquakes but when its something you can't control then it seems to scare you no matter what. I really hope nothing happens to you guys in Washington. It would be so terrible. If I lived in the path of a volcano like that, I would probably be living in fear all my life not knowing when something crazy could happen.
