Teresa Earnhardt questioning Earnhardt Jr.'s commitment?: Dale Earnhardt Inc. team owner Teresa Earnhardt appears to be questioning stepson #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s commitment to racing in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. The story in Thursday's edition [subscription only] says Earnhardt Jr.'s contract with the team founded by his father expires after the 2007 season, but Teresa Earnhardt expressed uncertainty about his future. "Right now the ball's in his court to decided on whether he wants to be a NASCAR driver or whether he wants to be a public personality." Earnhardt Jr. "was not available for comment" on the statement, the story said.(SceneDaily.com)(12-15-2006)

In Daytona for the 500 her and Taylor were on his pit box for a good portion of the race... and Taylor was cheering him on... then again... eh... who knows

Ok I know lots of people respect Teresa and all this and that, but personally I think shes a horrible owner. If she was an actively involved owner in major decisions, then I think over the last couple years, they've made lots of stupid decisions (team swap anyone)... and I think it's tacky for her to call Jr out like that considering his media personality is the cow they are milking to field 3 teams.

just collect the money hun and leave the sports/competition part out of it. "You're out of your element, Donnie"

I've always sensed alot of tension between the two of them. I think Teresa wants him to be something he just doesn't want to be and she wants to control him

geeez........
if she wants JR to stay at DEI, thats so not the way to have it happen.
There is a lot of issues between Teresa and JR. I imagine it might become quite ugly over the next year or so.
racefan9 - December 16, 2006 04:23 PM (GMT)
I think Junior is very committed to being a racecar driver and taking on all the responsibilities that go along with that.

Well now that certainly opened the door for him to leave after next year. For someone that is supposed to be such a brillant busness woman she ain't to bright. Don't bite the hand that feeds ya chic. Dale Jr is the backbone of that company. If people think it is bad over there now, it will get a lot worse if the heir apparent flies from the nest.

I don't know what to say about all of this. But, it looks like things might get pretty ugly pretty soon.
