Title: Favorite Moment of the Year
Scrapbookgirl9 - December 12, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
I can't believe I haven't started this thread yet.........
but we have to do this. What is your favorite moment from the 2006 season and why?
For me it had to be Charlotte in May. Not only did Scott and Jeremy go sit on the front row, then Kasey dominated the race for his 3rd win the season. And from someone who goes to every race at Lowe's Motor Speedway and always watches Jimmie win.....it was damn awesome to see Jimmie not win and for my driver to be the one in Victory Lane. Not to mention it was freaking awesome to see just how much Kasey's fan base has grown and to see how everyone was happy for him winning, pretty much no one around us at the track wanted Jimmie to win and all really enjoyed Kasey winning. Not to mention it was the first time I've had the chance to see him win a race and that feeling was just something I can't describe......seeing your driver win is like nothing else. And it was even better cause I experienced it with a bunch of friends and other Kasey fans.
Charlotte fall race comes in a close second.......cause the Mopar car finally went to Victory Lane and there is just something about that paintscheme that just rocks and finally it was 3rd times a charm.

Anyone of his 6 wins... but my favorite moment was this whole season.
Watching this team come from what it was last year as individuals and now as a whole team working as one. This has been the dream season that I think everyone's been waiting for since Kasey came to Cup.
They had their fair share of downs, but they turned around and rebounded from them, learned from them (or at least are trying) and moving on to 2007.
Court - December 12, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
I had a lot of favorite moments.. but like Katie said, it would probably be the entire season.
Seeing the whole team and the driver improve from how they were last year, was awesome.
I loved seeing two of their wins in person (Charlotte - May, and Michigan - June).
I know they'll work hard during the off-season and come back strong in '07 for another great season!

Hm... Definitely the whole season, but... if I had to pick one... I would say Michigan. Mostly because I was there, but he got the pole, wrecked his car, had a great race going, flat tire... lap down (shut up, Court.. I didn't cry lmao), came back to get the lap back, and won. Yes.. it wasn't a "real" win because of the rain, but it was an awesome race and I was there with my bestest friend, so it was amazing.
Coca-Cola 600 was another incredible favorite moment... as was the win at Atlanta because it was the first of the season.
NeverBeenThawed - December 12, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
I'd have to go with Las Vegas actually, just because it was the first Cup race weekend my dad and brother had been to, and I pleaded with my dad to buy Busch tickets the morning of the race, and he ended up winning that race, which was his very first win in any series of the year.
I guess though it was just special because I got to take my dad and brother with me. :)

Your siggy is like seizure signature, nearly.
NeverBeenThawed - December 12, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
But I also have to add that I really loved Charlotte race week this year too because I got to hang out with and meet some pretty spectacular people. I guess it's a tie between that and Vegas.
Jen - December 12, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
It was worse when I had the red and green words all changing, too... but I didn't want to give any one a seizure, so I changed it

That's kind of you. Seriously, I probably would have turned siggies off if you had left it like that. :)
carriekins - December 12, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
There are so many. I really enjoyed when Kasey went 4 wide at Michigan coming from one lap down -- that was awesome. :) (And then told Kole that he thought it was 2 wide. :lmbo)
I watched the last 40 laps of Atlanta sitting in Men's Shoes, watching on the tvs there. Needless to say, it was hard to concentrate the rest of the day.
The Coke 600 was amazing. I think that (followed closely by the BofA 500) was my favorite race of the year. Excuse me, Kasey Kahne fan coming through! (The scanner chatter was the best at the BofA 500, though.)
I have so many personal memories -- the trips, the friends, the laughs... there's so much.
All together, though, the whole season rocked. I'm really proud of what the 9 team accomplished -- the key word being team. I can't wait to see what they bring in 2007.
Jennifer - December 12, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
My favorite moment was Charlotte in October. It was my first race and my brother and sister experenced it with me, everything about it was awesome. The first time I saw the track, all the souvenir stuff, being inside the track - just everything, I'll never forget the feeling. And Kasey won B)
kimmerlh - December 12, 2006 04:18 AM (GMT)
Coke 600...I go to experience the whole race week..and see everything.
then to see him win in person for the first time...be with so many cool peeps and hang out with my friends was awesome!
to share that moment was cool, and to just see the way the whole place lit up when he won, and his reaction too!
i always hear the announcer when i think of that race... "what is Kahne doing?...Kahne's getting ontop of the car" while the music plays in the b/g.
non race fave moment.... traveling the furthest west i've ever been to hang with my buuuuddy!
Princess_Sara400 - December 12, 2006 05:02 AM (GMT)
The Michigan win and the Lowes races. Just showed what a great driver Kasey is

That twas a wonderful night... we made some really good friends... and we got to hang out w/ Darryl LOL :) That and then giving Kasey toyota was a close 2nd :) lol
Um Kasey NASCAR moment... the sweep in Cali i think... just because Tammy and Kim were there... and it was win #5 on the cup side... and he was just so excited about it...
That and Both Charlottes... the 600 he delievered the eviction notice and the fall race he brought in the movers :)
The whole season was just amazing... to come back from the '05 season and do as well as they did... it was just amazing to me... it kind of reminded me of his Rookie season where people didn't expect him to do what he was doing... he was the underdog again this year...
KaseyKahneFanForLife938 - December 12, 2006 02:54 PM (GMT)
My fav. moment of the season was Texas spring race bc I was there and got to see Kasey win. It was the most nerve wrecking race I've experienced. Funny thing is I sat by a Tony fan and by the end of the race he was also cheering for Kasey as well as the Jr. fans sitting behind us.
And not to mention the other 5 wins he had in the season including the sweep at Lowe's that was awesome.
Then there's also getting to finally meet Kasey that whole trip was so much fun. I can't wait til 07 bc I am going to more events. :)

Best moment of this year was definitely California. He had to win that race in order to have a shot at Richmond to make the Chase. He did it and did everything he needed to to set up Richmond.
racefan9 - December 12, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
My favorite moment was him winning the Coke 600.

:clap Yes indeed, that one gets my vote!
fiftyone196 - December 13, 2006 01:25 AM (GMT)
My favorite cup moment was definitly the cali win since I was there and it was simply amazing, seeing as he went a lap down and my mom was like 'well I'm going to the bathroom since Kasey can't win anymore' and she comes back and he's leading...
but my favorite Kasey moment of all time was meeting him at Irwindale. That made my whole frieken year.
Scrapbookgirl9 - December 13, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
All right so I've decided........I can't pick just one, LOL
I will say my favorite non-racing moment this year was at Fan Day when Kasey was on that stage and they asked him "what's the coolest gift you've ever been given by your fans?" And Court, Kim, Kristen and Mike all had to about pick me up off the ground when he said the scrapbooks and starts talking about in detail how they go through the whole season and how awesome a gift it was. I don't think so much that I was happy for me as I was for this board, cause this board is what that scrapbook each year is about, the fans and how we can give back to him and thank him for being so great to us. I remember calling at least 4 or 5 of you from the board just to freak out and to make sure someone posted it so all of you could rejoice in the fact that Kasey is so appreciative of what we give him.
Also as much as Atlanta fall race sucked......that had to be the best interview ever and really I'm kind of glad that wreck happened just so we could see that side of Kasey!
Lastly I'm going to pick a few races that stand out in my mind cause they were tracks that while he didn't win, he did really well and improved greatly on from the past. And thats the kind of things we see from a future champion, always getting better. Bristol, he posted his first top 10 ever there and stayed patient and survived both Bristol races. Martinsville, the first race wasn't so great a finish(blown engine) even though they had a Top 3 car, but he didn't have the best car and fought his way to a 7th place finish in the fall. Dega, well the first race wasn't so hot......but second at Dega in the fall!!! Not to mention he got out there and led some laps, he also placed 11th at Daytona in February and probably would have been higher had Jr not screwed him up(which Jr admitted and hated he ruined Kasey's day) He also continued to gain at some other tracks and it makes me so ready for next year!

His win at Lowe's Motor Speedway in October is one of my favorite moments. For me it was for two reason, he wasn't having the best of luck after making it into the chase so his win there was up lifting and then it was like he shut the door on Johnson and said this is my house now.
kahne krazy - December 13, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
This whole seasn has truly been awesome so it is hard to choose! But the Coca-Cola 600 was by far the best race this season when it comes to wins! I know everyone was relieved when Kasey won and Jimmie was kicked out of "his house"!!lol
Coming back from last year with a season like this really shows what this team and EMS can truly accomplish!! Lets hope for an even better season in 2007!!!
Katrina9 - December 14, 2006 03:21 PM (GMT)
My favourite moment of this season was probably my trip to Darlington in May. It was my first night race and I got to see Kasey and Jeff race. Kasey got the pole and even though he finished 21st, I had an awesome time. Jeff came 2nd so that was even more cool b/c I could have seen him win. Night races are definitely a lot of fun!!!!
Also though, Kasey's 6 wins were the best of the year!!! :)
Can't wait to see what race we might go to next year!!
Rae - December 15, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
I would have to say Lowe's Motor Speedway. A sweep in Jimmie's house! Not that I don't like Jimmie, but it was just nice to justify to my best friend (a jimmie fan) that Kasey is a great racer! :checkered :cloud9
Coming up second would be that Father's Day Race, The Rain Delay win! I just loved it, he was so cute that day bowing to the officials and in his blue fire suit! Those would probably be MY personal fav moments! :)
Oh and I can't forget... Mmmm... Vitamin Water! :vw
Krista - December 21, 2006 12:09 AM (GMT)
My fave moment would have to have been the Charlotte trip. I got to meet him twice that week plus seeing him win at Lowe's was awesome.
