Well it certainly had its ups and down........

This was definitely an AWSOME season! Yeah, there's things they need to work on.. but they'll work their butts off during the off season and come back stronger than ever in '07!
Enjoy the off-season, guys.. you deserve it!
Onto '07 and another Championship run!
kaseylover9dodge - November 19, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)

KKAngel9 - November 20, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
I totally agree! :) The 9 team did a fantastic job this year! :) I can so see things shapping up to be great next year and the guys making another run at the Championship again.
Katrina9 - November 20, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
Thank you to Kasey and the whole #9 team on giving us all a very exciting and awesome season. Congrats on the 6 wins, 6 Poles and for making the Chase and finishing 8th in points!!! Kasey and the #9 team truly gave me a memorable season. :)
Hollee - November 20, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
Couldn't have asked for more.
He showed everyone just what kind of driver he is and that he isn't just a fly by night random star.
Kasey Kahne will be a champion.
On to 07!
Never stop believing.
AmeriKahneGirl924 - November 20, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
Great season for Kasey and Co!!!
Katie9 - November 20, 2006 12:35 AM (GMT)
I think Carrie said it best 6 wins, 6 poles, 15 positions better in points then he was last year, I'll take it. I can't complain with this season at all because this has been a dream season compared to last year and the dismal season he had. This team has no reason to be down on themselves and everything that they have done this year proves that they are a Championship team, it's just going to take time and patients to get there, but when they do, it's going to be huge.
Awesome job this season to Kasey, Kenny and the entire 9 team. You guys did amazing!
Jennifer - November 20, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
This season has been wonderful, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I can't wait for 2007 and many more seasons with Kasey and the 9 team
thermodynamics - November 20, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
I know we had our disagreements about how good the season was going to be, I think we can all agree it was a great season. Here's for a great 2006, and a better 2007! :shot
Carriek928 - November 20, 2006 04:54 AM (GMT)
:clap I'll join ya for a drink, David and everyone else who wants one! :shot It was an awesome year...I guess I can say 'LOVE IT' to sum up my feelings for the season...everyone else has said it all...why repeat? So
LOVE THE CAR,
LOVE THE DRIVER,
LOVE THE CREW,
LOVE THE SEASON...
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT...
The end!
:clap :checkered :cloud9
(The above contents is not meant to be kahneybopper-ish, but meant to be from a very proud fan...LOL Just to be clear! :) )

K Bear - November 20, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
This year was a great year. Kasey and the #9 team showed that they are every bit of the force they showed to be in 2004. They are a championship caliber team that is on the cusp of greatness. Here's to growth, maturity, confidence, and the 2007 Nextel Cup!

BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This season has been phenomenal. From the team that struggled just to get 1 win last year to being the winningest team of 2006. That is one hell of an improvement with more to come, I have no doubts.
I will never forget the excitement I have felt as this team matured and showed that they deserve to be in the Chase all season.
PROUD TO BE A KASEY KAHNE FAN AND ALWAYS WILL BE.
DEDICATION. DRIVE. DETERMINATION.

And my mind hasn't changed overnight. :)
I'm damn proud of this team. I'm glad Kasey was able to shut his critics up this season and prove he's the same driver with all the promise as he was his Rookie season.
I was actually pondering his season at the airport (because I had way too much time on my hands) and with just the slightest of tweaking, the 9 team is poised to become the next 48 team. I'm really happy his team is staying in tact in the off season -- that will be really great for the morale of the team. :)
I'm not counting down to the Daytona 500. The Bud Shootout (hell, Daytona testing) is much earlier. B)

For sure!!
I'm proud of kasey the 9 team and evernham motorsports... they could of easily given up after the first few bad races but they kept digging through it all...
NWfan938 - November 21, 2006 05:51 PM (GMT)
The 2006 season will go down as one of the best in my book. He won 6 times and made the Chase. While, there were certainly some downs, I kept the faith in Kasey to the very end.
BRING ON 2007!
kimmerlh - November 22, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this year!
as its been said Kahne and company showed they could win, they keep winning and they could run up front.
Kahne showed he was a force to mess with and with some time off and a bit tweaking he will be feared next year lol....he will be hell to mess with next year how bout that.
Cheers to this year and here's to '07!

From Tom Jensen from Speedtv.com, ranking his top 5 stories of the year (other than Jimmie winning):
| QUOTE |
| 5. Kasey Kahne. Yes, he still made too many mistakes and had too many DNFs. But after a disastrous sophomore season, Kahne emerged as a force to be dealt with in 2006, winning a Cup series-high six races and six poles in his Evernham Motorsports Dodge Charger. He absolutely will win a championship one day, and it likely will be sooner rather than later. |
And David Poole ranked him 6th in his year-end standings. :)
Scrapbookgirl9 - November 22, 2006 12:20 PM (GMT)
I'm still excited.........
my dad brought home the USA Today and they have a special section on NASCAR and the very back page is a whole Kasey ad from Allstate for congrats on the most wins, woooohoooo :)
carriekins - November 22, 2006 12:28 PM (GMT)
From Tom Bowles, grading all drivers:
| QUOTE |
Kasey Kahne After falling prey to the sophomore slump, Evernham's flagship driver was given all the tools he needed to succeed in '06 -- engineering guru Kenny Francis and Jeremy Mayfield's Chase-experienced crew were brought over to make Kahne's third season a breakout year. While Mayfield balked and eventually left the organization, Kahne didn't disappoint, rolling to a season-high six wins on tracks between 1.5 and two miles in length. Entering the Chase as a darkhorse candidate to take the title, Kahne's chances were quickly derailed in a Dover accident with Tony Stewart that was followed by DNFs at Atlanta and Texas, places the No. 9 car won in the spring. Consequently, Kahne looked like he was a shell of his former self by the end of the season, as if his only chance at a title had been squandered away. Never fear, Kasey; just 26, you'll have plenty more chances to take home that precious piece of championship hardware. Grade: A-. |
I quite enjoy that he went from last year's biggest disappointments to one of this year's top stories. :)
Scrapbookgirl9 - November 22, 2006 12:31 PM (GMT)
Carrie, I think we are both reading the same articles this morning, LOL
carriekins - November 22, 2006 12:33 PM (GMT)
Pretty much I read what I think will mention Kasey. I'm curious to see what the critics really thought this season now that the dust has settled. :)
Kenny was Crew Chief of the Race, one last time in '06. :hearts

Q:Now that J.J. has his, which title-less driver will be next to win a Cup championship?
A:(from Brian De Los Santos)Take a gander at this year’s final top 10. Seven of those drivers have never won a championship. A few of them probably never will (Mark Martin for one), but I gotta believe at least a couple of those seven will claim a Cup somewhere down the line. I’d put Kasey Kahne’s name on the top of that list. This season he came into his own and really learned how to win. More importantly he won at the type of tracks that make up a majority of the Nextel Cup schedule. And it will only help Kahne if NASCAR makes the rumored changes to the points system and rewards more points for victories. He does need to cut down on the DNFs, but he’s still young. As long as he continues to mature, learns from his mistakes and doesn’t get a big head, he should eventually join the ranks of Cup champions. |
carriekins - November 22, 2006 04:52 PM (GMT)
From Marty Snider's Insider -- Predictions for next year. He's got Kasey in Tier 2 with Junior and Biffle.
| QUOTE |
• Kasey Kahne
Unfortunately, we don't race on just 1.5 mile tracks. Kahne is improving at the other tracks, especially at the short tracks but he has to work on overall consistency. It is most likely just a matter of time before the 9 team is knocking on the door to win a Nextel Cup. |
I'm glad somebody else has noticed the improvement on other tracks. :)
Throw in some consistency, and we're golden. :drive
~*Diana*~ - November 22, 2006 05:39 PM (GMT)
This season was so great. I know it just got over but I'm already ready to start the next season because I know Kasey is gonna do just as good and probably better in 2007! I'm definately seeing a Championship in the future and maybe next season it will be his! And I can't forget, Congrats to Kasey for the most wins! Awesome job! :clap

From Lee Spencer of the Sporting News, in response to the Top 5 Improved Teams:
| QUOTE |
No. 9 Dodge: Kasey Kahne had a solid rookie season in 2004, but after he finished 23rd in points under crew chief Tommy Baldwin Jr. in his sophomore season, the kinder, gentler Kenny Francis took over the team for 2006.
Francis provided a comfortable environment in which Kahne could build confidence and flourish. It also helped that the crew from the No. 19 team, which had made the Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup the past two years, moved to the No. 9 team before the season. The makeover worked; Kahne won six races and had 19 top 10 finishes, including 12 in the top five, in 2006 and made his first Chase appearance. |
Hee, 'the kinder, gentler Kenny Francis.' :claps
I love this year-end wrap-up stuff. :)
