Now underway......

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
Too bad all of my guys go in like the top 13.

Peter - November 18, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
Doesn't look like Kraig Kinser will make his Busch debut this weekend.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 08:46 PM (GMT)
Not so much.

Peter - November 18, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
Really, it's difficult to tell what kind of lap speed is a good one at this point. Definitely an interesting qualifying session.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
We'll just have to see. It's a big field, so 9 are going home.

Court - November 18, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
Kasey interview!

Thinks the car will be alright.. the qual runs weren't that great last night, and the race runs were pretty decent. Gonna have to run a 10 or a 20.. thinks Harvick or Kenseth will be fast since they go out later.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
I hope Ashton Lewis Jr finds a ride. I've always had a soft spot for him since he drove the CAP car a few years back.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Matty K. to the pole!

Peter - November 18, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
Kasey should be qualifying any second now.

Court - November 18, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
Kasey's up!

Peter - November 18, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
31.566. Solid, hopefully will hold up for a top 15 starting spot.

Court - November 18, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
3rd

Peter - November 18, 2006 09:13 PM (GMT)
All these past champions complicate the whole "beat 9 go-or-go-home cars to make the field" policy.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
I don't think it'll come into play today, since the most recent past champion on the field is 2nd of 17 cars right now.

True. Greg Biffle and Dale Earnhardt Jr. haven't qualified yet, but they'll more than likely be fast enough to make the field.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 09:18 PM (GMT)
That's kinda what I figure.

Here's a question you can probably answer...If the second most recent past champ isn't fast enough to make the field, but the most recent past champ is, does that second most recent get the provisional?

Never mind. I answered my own question. LOL.

Court - November 18, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
I'm off to church now.. shall return a little after 5

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 09:22 PM (GMT)
Wow, Todd. Way to give a short interview. B)

Yeah, he would, lol. Joe Nemechek in 11th is also a past Busch champion, but I think that he'll make the field on time.

NeverBeenThawed - November 18, 2006 09:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Jr is 5th right now. Looks like they'll be a-okay too. Is Greg the only one left?

Yeah. But I don't think that he's eligible to use the past champion's provisional since he used it a few races ago.

Really? Greg did? I missed that totally. What are the frequency rules on that?

He used it at Kansas after wrecking on his first lap of qualifying, I believe.

At present, a former Craftsman Truck Series or Busch Series champion can only use a past champions' provisional every eight races.
