I joined this message board for the sole purpose of posting this...I had to share it with fans of Kasey Kahne. Sorry it's a bit delayed.

Last weekend I was at the race at PIR, and I took along my best friend's 10-year-old son, who had never attended a race before. Afterwards, we went down to the road where all of the drivers come out of the track at to see who we might be able to catch a glimpse of, and one of the drivers we were fortunate enough to be able to see was Kasey. Many of the drivers who went through (and I'm not going to name names) more or less snubbed the fans...they never acknowldeged the people standing there. Not a wave, not a smile...one driver even put his hand over his face so that nobody could take pictures. Not Kasey, though, he not only acknowledged the fans, but he went above and beyond. He was the passenger in an SUV that was leaving the track, and they were stuck in the traffic trying to get out. Everyone around us was pointing and waving and generally having an "OH MY GOSH, THAT'S KASEY KAHNE!" freak-out. He pointed over to where we all were and motioned for someone to come over. Obviously, everyone was in shock and trying to figure out who he wanted, and meanwhile he's still waving for someone to come over. Finally, some girl went bouncing over to the car and he shook his head, rolled down the window, and again pointed over to where everyone was. The girl turned around, looked at Matt (my friend's son) and went "He wants you." So, Matt and I walked over to the car where Kasey handed him an autographed hat.

Out of all the people around, including a couple of fangirls...Kasey picked the kid out of the crowd and called him over. Let me tell you, I already thought Kasey was a cool guy, but he earned so many brownie points in my book that you can't even imagine...and he also earned himself a new 10-year-old fan.

Sports in general need more people like Kasey.


(PS- If the phrase "Dale Junior should be riding up on his unicorn any minute now" means anything to you...then, HI!!!!!!!!)
