My mom just got off the phone with one of my aunts. On Halloween my grandpa wasn't feeling so great and my mom and two of my aunts told him to go to the doctor. Well.. he's in the hospital with pneumonia and congestive heart failure. So if you guys could keep him in your thoughts and prayers, we'd all appreciate it.

Well.. I decided not to go with my mom this morning, 'cause I wasn't feeling too great (damn cramps).. but she's beyond pissed at one of my aunts. I guess we almost lost him last night, and one of my aunts couldn't be bothered to call any of us. He was in the step-down unit, which is just down from the ICU.. but now he's in the ICU. They did an echogram this morning, so my mom couldn't see him 'til about 10.. and when she finally saw him, she said his pulse kept shooting way up, and coming way down... anywhere from the 20's, up to the 100's. He's on a ventilator, and he has a cathetor in. They also have him on 3 different antibiotics.

Thanks for all the prayers.. just keep him in 'em.

Well.. we went up to see him this evening, and he's looking MUCH better. He has a feeding tube in that they must've put in earlier today. They're keeping him highly sedated, 'cause he kept trying to take his tubes out earlier.. but that's expected. He was alert the whole time we were there, and tried SO hard to talk. They might be able to take his tubes out tomorrow at the earliest.

We asked his nurse what the could've been the cause from us almost losing him.. 'cause one of my aunts left the hospital at about 10:40 last night, and one was still there. Well, around 12:05 am, his pulse went way up, as did his heart rate. They said it was a good thing there were nurses around, 'cause they were running all over trying to get him back down and whatnot.

But, his HR and pulse are really good now, and his nurse said that he's doing great. Still not outta the woods yet, but much better than he was doing.

We were talking to him to let him know that we were there, and one of my aunts said "That Wisconsin school won".. his fav. college football team is Wisconsin.. 'cause he went to school there.

But thank you all so much for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. Please keep him in them still, 'cause we've got a long road ahead of us.

I LOVE nurses...(not that I have any reason to be biased or anything). But on a serious note, I'm glad to hear he's doing better, and I hope he continues to improve. Hang in there.

I just saw this now! My thoughts and prayers are definitely with you and your family tonight and for as long as you need them. I am glad that he is doing better. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Just got back from seeing him again. They have him sitting in a wheelchair now.. and the tubes are out! One of his nurses told us to keep him from talking.. but he wouldn't shut-up lmao He looking a lot better, too. He's slowly starting to get back to himself.. aka get his sense of humor back lol

He said that he didn't remember them even putting the tubes in Friday night, or being moved down to the CCU... and he didn't remember that we were up there last night. But, we were refreshing his memory lol We'll probably go up and see him again tomorrow, too.

And we all appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers!

Just got home from seeing him again. Even better news.. he's out of the CCU.. and they bypassed the Stepdown Unit, so now he's in a regular room. He was using the potty when we got there, so we had to wait about a half hour to see him.. since he hadn't done anything since he'd gotten in there Friday. He's been eating and whatnot, and said that he's been feeling better. They were getting ready to take his catheter out when we were leaving.. they don't know why the nurses in the CCU didn't take it out before he got up there.

I probably won't be able to see him tomorrow, since tomorrow's my long day with classes.. but my mom's going up to see him, and I'll have her let me know how he is and I'll keep everyone updated still.

Court I'm so glad your grandfather is doing better. I'll keep him my thoughts and prayers.

This is seriously a roller coaster ride for all of us. One of my aunts kept us updated today, since we didn't go up. Now he has to have a heart cath done.. and on top of that, his kidneys aren't doing so well. So right now, they're focusing on his kidneys to get those better. And, since he's on Heparin right now, they need to get him off of that since it's a blood thinner.. then they'll do the heart cath.

And I guess he's really getting agitated with everything that's going on.. gah! At least I have all of you guys here.
