Title: Any other writers attempting NaNoWriMo this year?

KKAngel9 - November 3, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
I'm a writer and last night, I decided I was going to attempt to do NaNoWriMo again this year when a good story idea came to mind. I tried to do it last year and managed to get just past half-way last year, which I think was pretty good for a first attempt at doing it. For having started just last night, I am technically only about two days behind in the word count and I am working on trying to make up ground today before work and then plan on continuing after work.

Anyone else giving it a go this year and how far are you so far?

I don't know anything about it.........but good luck :)

NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. It takes place every November and the goal is to write a 50,000 word story, which breaks down to just under 1,700 words a day. The story can be about anything you want of course. Mine is about racing of course because I am on a racing kick right now and I just updated my word count since I have to go to work soon and I've managed to get up to just over 2,100 words, which puts me at almost halfway to where I should be today. :)

oh cool, sounds like a lot of fun

if I had time for it, I would probably do something like that.

Good luck with it, keep us posted how you are doing :)

I have never heard of it until now. Good luck though!

I've been hearing alot about that. I am sure I could prolly do it if I could stick with one story line long enough. Might have to attempt playing catch up like you lol

but hey sounds fun and rock on!

I got a bunch of writing done at work tonight since we were rather slow and I've nearly got myself caught upto where I should be after 3 days of writing. I'm about 500 words shy of 5,000, which is where I should be after 3 days of writing, which is really awesome for having started a day late. :) I am hoping to write a little more tonight and maybe even get myself a little ahead for tomorrow if possible. :)

So you can do fan fic? If doesn't have to be all fake characters?

KKAngel9 - November 4, 2006 05:58 PM (GMT)
I've never seen anything that says it has to be complete fiction. But this one isn't as fan fiction as some of my others have been lately and the details that make it fan fiction could easily be changed because of the way I am writing it. :)

Cool, have fun with that! I haven't written fiction since...forever. Technical writing is the only thing i can do.

I am really enjoying writing this story already and it is quite fun, especially since I get to do research on some of the stuff I am including in the story because there are some things that I don't know a lot about. It is really cool.

I made some fantastic progress tonight and I am at over 7,000 words now. I also put something in my signature so you guys can see where I stand as far as word counts go. :) I am about 1,000 words shy of making the goal for day 5 already and it's awesome considering I started a day late on this. I made up a lot of ground quickly and hopefully, I will be able to keep up this pace. I know I will be able to reach the mark for day 5 sometime today. I probably could have done it tonight yet but I am tired so I will continue work on it in the morning. :)
